Jonas Koch takes over the overall leadership

From Kirchschlag to Frohnleiten, a really demanding profile had to be mastered for the first time on the third stage of the Tour of Austria over 176,2 kilometers. Thibault Guernalec (Arkea – Samsic), George Zimmerman (Tyrol KTM Cycling Team), Lucas De Rossi (Delko Marseille Provence) and Francesco Manuel Bongiorno (Neri Sottoli – Selle Italia – KTM) formed the breakaway of the day. On the pursuit, the peloton split even before the final climb. Meanwhile, Georg Zimmermann broke away from his companions. But on the last few kilometers the peloton managed to catch up with him. In addition, there were numerous attacks, so that the overall leader Jannik Steimle (Vorarlberg – Santic) dropped back. But Team CCC held the field together. This led to a sprint in a group of around 60 men, which Giovanni Visconti (Neri Sottoli – Selle Italia – KTM) won. The new wearer of the red jersey is Germany's Jonas Koch (CCC), who finished third today.
