Cycling: Dylan Teuns (Bahrain – Merida) has won the first mountain finish of this year's Tour de France. The Belgian left Giulio Ciccone (Trek – Segafredo) behind on the Planche de Belles Filles. But the Italian can put on the yellow jersey for it. There have been a few winners and losers in the overall standings. Emanuel Buchmann (Bora – hansgrohe) definitely presented himself positively.

Three Germans in the breakaway
Today the first mountain finish of the Tour de France was on the agenda. From Mulhouse to the Planche des Belles Filles, seven climbs had to be climbed over 160,5 kilometers. After the team time trial, the classification drivers were asked for the first time. At first, however, a large leading group shaped the race. The Germans were among the front runners Nils Politt (Katusha – Alpecin), Nickias Arndt (Sunweb) and André Greipel (Arkea – Samsic). The lead of the group leveled off at around eight minutes. Because up to 55 kilometers before the finish, only Deceuninck - Quick-Step was responsible for the pace in the peloton. Only then did Movistar rush in to help. Up to the Col des Chevrères the leading group finally fell apart. Xandro Meurisse (Wanty-Gobert), Julius Ciccone (Trek - Segafredo), Dylan teuns (Bahrain – Merida) and Tim Wellens turned out to be the strongest. The latter thus defended his mountain jersey.

Alaphilippe loses yellow despite strong performance
On the final ascent to the Planche de Belles Filles Julius Ciccone (Trek – Segafredo) and Dylan teuns her companions stand. The decision should only be made on the gravel section. Here Teuns proved to be stronger. The Belgian won the stage eleven seconds ahead of the Italian. Xandro Meurisse saved himself in third place from the favorites. There ventured Mikel Landa (Movistar) first out of cover before Groupama – FDJ for Thibaut Pinot took command. But surprisingly it worked Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) the first stitch of the needle. The Frenchman attacked in the yellow jersey and immediately opened up a gap. He just really likes gravel passages. But Ineos answered in the last few meters Geraint Thomas. The Welshman passed and Thibaut Pinot was right behind him. The new wearer of the yellow jersey is Giulio Ciccone, second in the stage by six seconds! So the day ends with a happy ending for him.
Buchmann even better than Bernal
However, behind Thomas, Pinot and Alaphilippe we also saw some disappointed faces. The Movistar team, for example, worked a lot but hardly achieved any positive results. It was even worse Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale). The Frenchman conceded a few seconds and, after the disaster in the team time trial, is actually no longer a candidate in the fight for the podium. Completely different Emmanuel Buchman (Bora – hansgrohe). The German finished eighth and even took the lead Egan Bernal (Ineos) time off. This gives hope that a place in the top ten is definitely possible for him.
