Clothing: Cube Rook - A helmet to put on and feel good?

July 31, 2019 by the editorial office

Test: protect what needs to be protected. You can easily invest a medium, three-digit amount for a helmet. And yet one hopes that one will never need it. The Cube Rook is an all-round mountain bike helmet that has been tailored to the needs of mountain bikers together with the Natural Fit brand.

At just 261g, it is a lightweight.

Cube Rook: A well thought out concept from AZ

At first glance, the Cube Rook looks like a normal helmet. It is, but as in so many areas, it's the details that count. In addition to the ergonomic aspects, the technology also leaves nothing to be desired. The helmet is relatively light at just under 260 grams and you hardly notice it on your head. There is also a holder for various accessories on the back of the helmet. Here, for example, a separate rear light (www.cube.eu) to be attached. But the battery also finds it Cube HPA 2000 lamp your place.

Fast assembly thanks to the integrated bracket.

If no accessories are mounted, the mount is discreetly hidden with a small cover. If you consistently want to do without accessories, you should glue the cover or fix it with some locktite. We promptly lost the cover on the first exit.

The good ventilation and the ergonomic adjustment straps at a glance.

Cube Rook: Well ventilated and a good fit

The Natural Fit brand, together with Cube, has made it their mission to reconcile more ergonomics and performance. So, together with the osteopath Dr. Med. Michael Foti developed a sophisticated ergonomic system.

These new findings are also incorporated into the Cube Rook MTB helmet. The fixation or the size adjustment has been optimized. This can not only be adjusted to the head circumference, but also changed in height. The numerous ventilation openings ensure a pleasant air supply even in hot temperatures.

The visor is interchangeable and can be reordered from Cube.

The chin strap can also be individually adjusted in position and length. A chin pad is included so that the strap does not rub against the skin unnecessarily. This can even be reordered and replaced in the Cube spare parts shop. So you definitely have something from the helmet longer if there is no fall in between.

Due to the optimized size adjustment through "Natural Fit", the helmet can also be properly "lashed" without becoming uncomfortable. This is helpful when the helmet becomes heavier due to the additional weight of the lamp with battery and still needs to sit neatly on the head. So the light cone does not wobble even on a night ride.

Good support even with additional weight.

The Cube Rook is a lightweight and well thought out helmet. With the accessory mount, a light or a battery for the helmet lamp can be easily mounted. The helmet can be individually adjusted so that even with additional weight, for example due to a lamp, it still fits perfectly. Even typical spare parts, small parts that sometimes suffer defects, such as the visor or the chin pad, can be ordered from Cube without any problems and for little money.
