Test: With the Radon Spire Disc 9.0, we tested a thoroughly solid carbon entry-level model with all-round genes. While the carbon frame ensures low weight and rigidity, the mechanical Shimano Ultegra gears and the Mavic Ksyrium deliver precision and speed.
Radon Spire Disc 9.0 – The frame
The frame of the Radon Spire Disc 9.0 is quite impressive. The frame, made of high-quality carbon, is particularly convincing due to its good rigidity and solid weight. The geometry provides a good mix of sporty and relaxed, since the slightly more moderate stack to reach values do not cause you to stretch too much and you are still sitting firmly in the saddle without any major problems even after several hours of riding. The seat post with a diameter of 27,2 mm, in combination with the damping rear triangle, should offer comfort even on harder ground.

Radon Spire Disc 9.0 – The equipment
Just like the frame, the equipment is also designed for good all-round performance and reliability. With the Mavic Ksyrium wheelset you have one of the best aluminum all-rounders on your bike, which offer a small aerodynamic feature with streamlined bladed spokes, which is optimally combined with the stability and the attractive weight which complements Ksyrium. With a complete Shimano Ultegra shift group, you get mechanical shifting precision and durability for lots of riding fun.
An ideal supplement here are the Ultegra disc brakes, which offer powerful braking performance even at high speeds and adverse conditions and thus ensure a safe driving experience. This is where the new Continental Grand Prix 5000 tires come into play, which promise the best rolling characteristics and decent grip even in the wet. The Newmen carbon handlebar is comfortable to hold and offers appealing comfort, which is further enhanced by the flexing carbon seat post.
Radon Spire Disc 9.0 – entry-level road bike with all-round genes
The Radon Spire Disc 9.0 is certainly not to be classified as a high-end racing bike, but the racer offers all-round good characteristics for having a lot of fun on the streets. Because both the carbon frame and the good equipment complement each other skilfully to offer beginners a successful overall package in the road bike sector.

The good rigidity in particular ensures an appealing power transmission, which gave us a lot of fun on all terrains during the test. In combination with the solid total weight of 7,95 kilos, we were able to ride uphill quickly, especially on the mountain. The somewhat more relaxed geometry also ensures a pleasant driving experience, as we had the impression that we were putting a lot of power on the pedals. When we went downhill, we were able to really step on the gas thanks to smooth running and precise handling, and thanks to the powerful discs and the great Conti tires we felt safe.

On the level you will of course notice the difference to the right aero racers, since you are not quite as streamlined as with these speed weapons due to the wheels and the shape of the frame. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun here as well, because despite the sporty seating position you are quite comfortable on the road and, especially after corners and when accelerating, you can quickly pick up speed and accelerate again thanks to the good stiffness. The Shimano Ultegra also showed itself from its best side here and made the ride even more pleasant thanks to its precision. With these good all-round genes, the Radon Spire Disc 9.0 offers, in our opinion, a successful combination of sporty handling and technical precision, which makes the Renner the perfect entry-level racing bike for everyone.
