Product news: The Swiss manufacturer announced the new BMC Roadmachine with the slogan The “One-Bike Collection” – re-imagined. This is intended to once again express the versatility of the Roadmachine.
The new BMC Roadmachine is all about versatility and is intended to combine the high-quality, competition-tested properties such as speed, integration and driving experience with the flexibility and comfort of the BMC Endurance bikes.
“Road cyclists ride further, longer and climb more altitude than ever before, and many endurance riders are willing to travel great distances to enjoy epic rides. You will travel to different regions and countries to take part in the full day adventures. These events are becoming more and more extreme as they involve different road types and conditions, longer distances and increasing elevation gain. To meet these demands, we wanted to create an endurance bike that not only handles all types of road surfaces, from smooth tarmac to rougher roads to cobblestones, but also shines on crisp climbs.” – Senior Product Manager Road at BMC Switzerland
BMC Roadmachine – Frame Technology & Components
The heart of the brand new Roadmachine is the durable premium carbon frame, which is supposed to ensure comfort with its lowered seat stays. In addition, the durable carbon layup known as the Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC) has been refined to ensure optimal adaptation to rough and changing road conditions, while at the same time offering excellent power transmission. TCC Endurance construction allows the Roadmachine's frame, fork and D-shaped seatpost to work in sync, which is said to make the ride even more comfortable. In addition to a new and optimized carbon frame construction, the new BMC Roadmachine features BMC's high-performance Endurance Geometry, which was developed to enable a safe and balanced ride in fast corners on asphalt and on the most diverse terrain of the back roads.
When designing the new BMC Roadmachine, the goal was to be lighter, stiffer and more vertically compliant. Bottom bracket stiffness has been increased by 5 percent for improved acceleration, while torsional stiffness of the headset has been increased by 20 percent for race-ready handling. At the front of the bike, the new Roadmachine fork, 10 percent stiffer, now ensures maximum control on fast descents. At the same time, there was a 25 percent improvement in vertical compliance in the steering head area over the previous generation.
BMC Roadmachine - Cockpit integration
The new BMC Roadmachine also uses the Integrated Cockpit System (ICS) technology to offer a perfect seating position and aerodynamic aesthetics. However, by using BMC's ICS, which offers a variety of stems while retaining integrated aero cable routing for the stealth cockpit, maintenance is not compromised, which should please any cycling enthusiast.
In order to meet the constantly changing requirements of modern endurance riders, the new Roadmachine offers enough tire clearance for a wide variety of terrain up to a width of 33c. Other new features for more versatility are the integrated, lightweight and removable Dfender fender, which was specially developed for the D-shaped seat post, as well as the top tube mount for bags and accessories.
BMC Roadmachine – size, geometry and models
The new Roadmachine is offered in the following models: Roadmachine 01, Roadmachine 02 and Roadmachine ICS module, in sizes 47, 51, 54, 56, 58 and 61cm.
