Product news: Gravel bikes are no longer a trend, but will soon be standard. Therefore, there are now more and more outfitters who offer special products for the Gravel area. So does DT Swiss, who want to offer the best riding characteristics on gravel with three new Gravel wheels.
With three new gravel wheel sets, DT Swiss is now also targeting the topic of gravel and wants to win the drop bar market. All new wheels have an internal width of 24mm, are tubeless compatible, have Center Lock rotors and are suitable for 9mm QR, 12mm thru axles or 15mm thru axles. The individual models DT Swiss GRC 1400 Spline 42, DT Swiss GR Spline 1600 25 and DT Swiss G Spline 1800 25 differ primarily in their design and rim height.
DT Swiss Gravel wheels – GRC 1400 Spline 42
The DT Swiss GRC 1400 Spline 42 Gravel wheelset is the absolute top model of the new line. Due to its shape, the hookless carbon rim is less susceptible to impact damage, which can be a great advantage when graveling. The bulbous rim shape manufactured by Swiss Side with a rim height of 42 mm offers first-class aerodynamics. The higher rim also offers advantages when the ground is a bit sandy and you sink easily, because the higher rim prevents it from getting caught between the spokes and braking. In general, the wheels have been optimized for tires with a width of at least 30mm. The hubs have a special aluminum shell and DT Swiss Aero Comp bladed spokes are used throughout with hidden DT Swiss Pro Lock aluminum nipples.
DT Swiss Gravel wheels - GR 1600 Spline 25
The top-of-the-line aluminum model is the DT Swiss GR 1600 Spline 25 Gravel wheelset with more modest 25mm deep hooked rims, slightly heavier DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes made of wide-edged stainless steel and DT Swiss 350 hubs. At 1.811 grams, it offers a successful mix of lightweight construction and robustness.
DT Swiss Gravel wheels - G 1800 Spline 25
Last comes the DT Swiss G 1800 Spline 25 Gravel wheelset. The aluminum rim has the same external dimensions as the GR 1600 Spline 25 but has thicker walls. On the one hand, this means more weight, of course, and on the other hand, it promises even more stability and durability. The wheels are also fitted with the same DT Swiss Aero Comp Wide spokes, but the DT Swiss 370 hubs are also slightly heavier. The total weight should be 1.895 grams.
