Cycling: Daniel Auer just missed a sensation at the European Games in Minsk. The Austrian from the Continental team Maloja Pushbikers won bronze behind the winner Davide Ballerini (Astana) from Italy and the Estonian Alo Jakin (St Michel – Auber93)
Men's European Games: Surprising Top 10
David Ballerini (Astana) won the Men's European Games in Minsk. The Italian was able to break away from a leading group shortly before the finish and crossed the finish line as a soloist. Behind them, the pursuers sprinted for the silver and bronze medals. The 32 year old Hello Jakin (St Michel – Auber93) from Estonia celebrated the greatest success of his career with second place. The same applies to the 24-year-old Austrian Daniel Auer (Maloja Pushbikers) in third place. Also strong: the Swiss Robin Froidevaux (AKROS – Thömus) takes eighth place on the 180-kilometer course as a 20-year-old.

Women's European games: Dutch women with a double victory
The women's road race was significantly better than the men's. Unlike last year's European Championships, the Dutch women were able to live up to their role as favourites. After 120 kilometers, the only 20-year-old cheered Lorraine Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) and the twelve years older Marianne Vos (CCC – Liv) in front of the Belarusian Tatsiana Sharakova (Minsk Cycling Club) on a double victory in Orange. The German finished an excellent seventh place Liana Lippert (Sunweb). Best Austrian Catherine Schweinberger (Health Mate – Cyclelive Team) on #11. The Swiss woman Marlene Reusser (WCC) was 18th best in her country.
