Cycling: Chris Froome is in intensive care. The Brit underwent surgery at St Etienne hospital after his fall. Now he has to stay in intensive care for at least two days. Ineos team boss Dave Brailsford speaks of a worrying situation. At the same time, however, he is certain that we will see Chris Froome racing again.
Froome is 'not in good shape'
Chris Froome got it badly. The four-time Tour de France winner fell during the course inspection of the Critérium du Dauphiné time trial yesterday. Ineos team boss Dave Brailsford has now confirmed that Chris Froome is doing the Thigh, the material moisture meter shows you the Elbow and several ribs has broken. After being examined in Roanne, the 34-year-old was taken to St Etienne hospital. Further investigations followed. The Brit then had an operation tonight or yesterday evening. At least he has to now two days in intensive care .
Dave Brailsford:
"It's really a tough thing, to be honest. He's not in good shape.”
At 54 kilometers per hour against a house wall
Through the descriptions of Dave Brailsford, the public is slowly becoming aware of how badly Chris Froome must have actually been hit. Apparently the fallen one even has that Lost conscioussness. "In these situations, time is of the essence," says Brailsford. Chris Froome can therefore count himself lucky that he fell right next to an ambulance standing on the side of the track. Help was there immediately. As the recorded computer data shows, this quick help was sorely needed. Chris Froome was hit by a gust and crashed at a speed of 54 kilometers per hour against a house wall.
Dave Brailsford:
“We see falls every day and we get used to it. But there are falls and there are bad falls. And this was the latter. It's definitely worrying. But these guys also have very good recovery abilities. I am sure we will see Chris racing again.”
