cycling: Cycling dates: May shines in pink

6 May 2019 by Michael Behringer

Cycling dates May

Cycling Dates: May is the month of Giro d'Italia. In 2019 we can look forward to the first three-week national tour in Italy. But also in other places people cycle diligently. We take a look at all the important cycling dates in May.

Giro d'Italia: The fight for the most beautiful trophy in cycling

If a April the month is the one-day classic, then May is the month of the Giro d'Italia. The three-week tour of Italy begins on May 11th in Bologna and ends on June 2nd in Verona. In between there are numerous mountains to be climbed, sprints to be won and time trials to be mastered. Together with the Tour of Romandie and the German one-day race Eschborn–Frankfurt completes the Tour of California the most important cycling events in May. But there will also be a lot of pedaling going on outside of the WorldTour this month. The tours in Japan, Estonia and Norway are clearly overshadowed by the aforementioned events, but are rightly taken seriously by the Pro Continental teams. Thanks to the Four Days of Dunkirk and the Tour de l'Ain, it is once again worth taking a look at our neighboring country, France.
