Product news: Shimano's Technium glasses ensure a full perspective with modern technologies

5 April 2019 by the editorial office

The new SHIMANO Technium goggles help cyclists stay on their ideal line and stay in control of the bike, even under the most demanding track conditions. The new lens in mono design promises an improved range of transmittance for an optimal view on the trails.

Shimano Technium: More safety through glasses

Stylish, protects the eyes and improves vision enormously. Through the use of high-quality materials and the right lens, the Shimano Technium cycling glasses should do just that. Sunlight and glare are darkened and objects are brightened, so the surroundings appear clearer and can be perceived better. Unexpected obstacles such as wet roots and stones can be easily recognized and a possible fall can be averted.

Shimano Technium: Elaborate development

Thanks to the one-piece lens, the Technium offers both a wider field of vision that is easier on the eyes and more extensive protection against dirt and dust.
“To create this particular glass, we studied the typical colors of rocks, tree roots, grass and shrubs in wet, dry, sunny and cloudy conditions. We looked at the amount of light that needs to penetrate through the glass for the driver to easily see these colors. We have incorporated this knowledge into the new lens technology and supplemented it with an elegant frame in order to develop cycling glasses that make a noticeable difference in performance.” According to Hisataka Takada, Head of Shimano Glasses Product Development.

Shimano Technium: Function meets extensive design variants

The Technium models have a Grilamid TR90 frame for added protection that is barely noticeable at just 26 grams. The temples ensure a secure fit and are designed with a non-slip pattern for a snug fit. Side ventilation openings at the top and bottom prevent the glasses from fogging up.

The frames are available in the colors Metallic Black, Mustard Yellow and Spiced Red. The mirrored lens in orange blue is completed with a clear interchangeable lens.

The SHIMANO Technium is available from SHIMANO dealers across Europe. The RRP is €79,95.
