Product news: High-tech with a retro look: Mavic presents the limited Bernard Hinault collection

9 April 2019 by Michael Faiss

Product news / road bike: In the middle of the classic season, Mavic surprises with the presentation of a new Bernard Hinault collection. At the center is a merino jersey made of high-tech material, which is visually reminiscent of the glorious Hinault era and should appeal to retro fans in particular. The jersey, which is produced in a limited number, is complemented by matching socks and a matching cycling cap.

In the announcement video for the new collection, Mavic recalls the great career of Bernard Hinault - in particular his legendary victory at Paris - Roubaix in 1981. At that time, the "badger" started in the colors of the world champion in the hell of the north; although it was by no means one of his favorite races, the external circumstances were catastrophic with lots of rain and everything seemed to be going against him – including seven flat tires and a collision with a poodle – he was able to lift the coveted cobblestone trophy at the end of the Roubaix circuit . "There are days when you don't know who might hit you," Hinault remembers that day today.

Mavic Bernard Hinault Limited Edition Jersey

The jersey of the collection consists of a special merino blend material, which thanks to its special construction should offer optimal comfort in many different conditions. The soft surface is intended to ensure pleasant warmth on the skin in cool temperatures, while the breathability makes the jersey comfortable to wear even in warm temperatures. Reflective stripes on the back improve visibility and the essentials can easily be accommodated in the three generously proportioned jersey pockets.
