Cycling: Now it's official. The ASO confirmed on Thursday that the Grand Départ of the 2021 Tour de France will be held in Denmark. The most important tour in road cycling starts in about two and a half years with an individual time trial in the capital Copenhagen.
Tour de France 2012: Three days in Denmark
The sparrows whistled it from the roofs yesterday. Today it's official. The 2021 Tour de France will start in Denmark. On July 2, a 13-kilometer individual time trial is to take place in Copenhagen be discharged. This is followed by 190 kilometers from Roskilde to Nyborg and 170 km from Vejle to Sonderborg. It cannot be ruled out that a small detour to Germany will even be made during the third stage, because the destination is only about 35 kilometers from the border. After three Danish stages, the 108th Tour de France will have a first rest day and then continue in France. Further details about the route have not yet been announced.

The ASO presented their decision to hold the Grand Départ 2021 in Denmark in Copenhagen City Hall today. Among those present were the Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, tour director Christian Prudhomme and the Danish Crown Prince Frederik. Denmark will become the tenth country to have the honor of hosting the opening event of a Tour de France. Many details speak for the neighboring country of Germany. There, like in the Netherlands, the bicycle was firmly integrated into people's everyday lives. In Denmark, for example, there are said to be more bicycles than inhabitants.
