cycling: Tour Colombia #3: Molano represents Gaviria perfectly, Uranium back in orange

14. February 2019 by Michael Behringer

Cycling: Juan Sebastian Molano (UAE Team Emirates) has won the third stage of the Tour Colombia. The 24-year-old Colombian stepped in for his retired captain and compatriot Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates). Meanwhile, Rigoberto Uran (EF Education) was able to reclaim the leader's jersey.

Molano wins ahead of Alaphilippe and Ochoa

Eight Colombians made it into the top ten on the third day of the Tour Colombia. Only the Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz (Movistar) in eighth place and the Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) in second place could prevent the perfect result. However, a local professional was allowed to celebrate again. Juan Sebastian Molano (UAE Team Emirates) was the fastest sprinter after 167,6 kilometers, starting and finishing at the Llanogrande shopping mall. There was already a lot of sifting out on the difficult circuit, so that Rigoberto Uran (EF Education) was able to get the leader's jersey back. Due to a respiratory infection, Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates) will unfortunately not be able to get any more results. But within the team he is well represented by Juan Sebastian Molano.
