30 January 2019 by Michael Behringer

Six Day Berlin Kluge Reinhardt

Track cycling: home win at the Six Day Berlin! The German duo Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt secured overall victory with a furious attack on the last day of the Berlin six-day race. In the final chase, the reigning Madison World Champions managed to win a round with 13 rounds to go. Yesterday's leading defending champion Wim Stroetinga even flew off the podium with his partner Robbe Ghys. Maximilian Levy in the sprinters and Franz Schiewer in the stayers were able to defend their titles.

Kluge & Reinhardt with the perfect finish

It still worked! After falling behind yesterday, Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt hit back on the final day of Six Day Berlin. Wim Stroetinga from the Netherlands and Robbe Ghys from Belgium, who were leading before the final hunt, on the other hand, flew back from #1 to #4. The 108th Berlin Six-Day Race was decided with 13 laps to go when the German duo launched an inimitable attack. Despite being twelve points behind, they stayed ahead of Denmark's Marc Hester and Jesper Mørkøv. The Austrians Andreas Graf and Andreas Müller can be satisfied with third place.

1. Roger Kluge (GER) / Theo Reinhardt (GER) 470 points / clear round
2. Marc Hester (DEN) / Jesper Mørkøv (DEN) 482 points / -1 laps
3. Andreas Graf (AUT) / Andreas Müller (AUT) 414 points / -1 laps
4. Wim Stroetinga (NED) / Robbe Ghys (BEL) 463 points / -2 laps
5. Wojciech Pszczolarski (POL) / Daniel Staniszewski (POL) 437 points / -2 laps

2. Denis Dmitriev (RUS) 245 points
3.Shane Perkins (RUS) 231 points
4. Nikita Shurshin (RUS) 183 points

2. Daniel Harnisch (GER) with pacemaker Peter Bäuerlein (GER) 4 points
3. Reinier Honig (NED) with pacemaker René Kos (NED) 4 points
