Product news: With this rear light, Cateye will probably give many bikers an open door: The Rapid X2G Kinetic fits on seat posts or seat stays, but can also be mounted transversely on the end of the carrier. In addition, it has a robust elastic band that threads easily but securely into a groove on the left and right of the long side. The 16 LEDs in between shine very brightly, the beam angle is very wide at over 180 degrees.
So far already known from the sister model Rapid XG. But the addition "Kinetic" stands for an additional function that makes the rear light not only ideal for sports bikes without a fixed lighting system: As soon as the driver pulls the brake, the light shines much brighter for a good two seconds. A built-in speed sensor makes this brake light function possible. The Rapid also brings more safety to bicycles and e-bikes with existing lighting equipment. Fortunately, the new StVZO now allows it. For racing cyclists, the Kinetic not only creates more safety through increased attention: when riding in groups, it immediately shows if the person in front slows down even slightly. The classic contact with the consequences of a fall is thus prevented.
The lithium-polymer battery should last around eight hours before it has to be connected to the USB charging connector again. The socket for this is splash-proof under the rubber foot of the lamp.
Cost: approx. 50 euros.
