Spectrum: Berlin Bicycle Show 2019 canceled – future uncertain

7 December 2018 by Michael Faiss

Spectrum: The Berlin Bicycle Show 2019 will not take place. The organizers announced this today via Instagram. Unspecified circumstances would make an event at the level of previous years impossible, according to the short message. It is uncertain whether the trade fair will celebrate a comeback again in the next few years; However, the emotional wording of the cancellation suggests that the steadily growing lover's fair in the heart of the capital will close its doors forever.

Rumors of an alleged end to the Berlin Bicycle Show - shortly before its 10th anniversary in 2019 - had been circulating for several months. However, a date for the 2019 edition was communicated during the year and tickets were already available. Now, despite all the signs, the trade fair in Kreuzberg is coming to an end. "The current circumstances make it impossible for us to organize the 2019 trade fair," says the brief message on Instagram. In previous years, the organizers had repeatedly had internal problems. Whether these are ultimately decisive for the supposedly final end of the fair, or whether external circumstances play a role - nothing is known about this.

It is not known whether the trade fair in the iconic event hall at the Gleisdreieck will celebrate a comeback again in the future. However, the emotional wording of the Instagram post, in which the organizers say thank you for nine wonderful years, leaves little hope for fans of the fair.

Dear Berliner Fahrradschau fans, With regret we have to announce the cancellation of the 10-year anniversary edition of the Berliner Fahrradschau. Due to current developments, the organization of the show for 2019 is no longer possible. We want to thank you for making the show what is was - more than just a bike fair. We shared an attitude to life and made a statement for the bicycle scene to move beyond the norm. We are sad about this development and now we have to set ourselves on our bikes to let it all sink in. As individuals, we will continue to pursue new ideas and visions around the bicycle on social, political and industrial levels and surely will remain engaged in the cycle culture that we love. Until then, we thank you all for 9 great years. We think that together we have left a lasting impression on the world of cycling. #cyclingunites

We will also undoubtedly miss the fair - the successful mix of enthusiasts, bike nerds, start-ups and events such as the Rad Race was unique in Germany in this form. If you want, you can take this as an opportunity to look at our articles from last year's fair again - hopefully it won't be the last ones:
