Product news: Shimano presents a revised road bike and off-road cycling shoe lineup for 2019

24 October 2018 by Andrew Waldera

Product news: Shimano is starting the 2019 season with a revised road bike and off-road cycling shoe lineup. Highlights of the cycling shoe collection, which will be available from the end of 2018, include the top models S-PHYRE RC9 and XC9.

The 2018 season is hardly over when Shimano is already getting people excited for the new season with a revised road bike and off-road cycling shoe lineup. The highlights for 2019 include the new S-PHYRE RC9 and XC9 road bike and off-road top models, which have been revised in terms of ventilation and moisture wicking. According to the manufacturer, the grip and toe protection of the XC9 have also been further optimized. The performance shoes RC7 and XC7 have also been improved by Shimano. These received a second BOA L6 screw cap and should be characterized by an even faster fine adjustment.

The ME7, which is in the enduro segment, comes as a 2019 model with improved ventilation and optimized protection against the weather. Shimano has given the ME5 model a BOA L6 rotary fastener, which, together with the Velcro fastener, is intended to ensure an ideal fit and protective effect. For cold weather, the MW7 offers a Gore-Tex membrane, fleece insole, BOA L6 screw cap and "TORBAL" technology protection. The all-mountain SPD shoe AM5 and the gravity flat pedal shoe GR5 come with new colors, improved traction and more grip.

Parallel to the new shoe models, Shimano is presenting a revised pedal lineup. Road racers as well as mountain bikers and BMXers can enjoy the updated range. The SHIMANO 105 SPD-SL pedal (PD-R7000) is intended to offer racing cyclists race-proven performance at a mid-range price. The XTR pedal (PD-M9100/9120) for ambitious mountain bikers has also been revised. The new BMX SPD pedal (PD-MX70) and the Explorer combination pedals with SPD binding on one side and flat pedal side (PD-ES600 and PD-EH500) can also be found in the pedal lineup for the coming season.
