Product news: Velomotion visited the Cosmic Camp 2018. Among other things, the company Knog from Australia presented the news for the 2019 model year there. We took a closer look at four products. Knog became known with the Frog Strobe - these are small LED lamps with waterproof silicone housing. In the meantime, Knog has continued to develop and offers a variety of LED lamps and other accessories, such as a filigree bell.
Knog Oi Luxe
The Knog Oi is already on the market, now Knog has introduced another bicycle bell - the Knog Oi Luxe. The Oi Luxe case is made of stainless steel, the outer ring and the brass thingy were CNC milled. Inside there is a leather strap that protects against slipping and scratches on the handlebars. The very filigree bell is suitable for handlebars with a dimension of 31,8 mm. But there is also a smaller version for thin handlebars. The Knog Oi Luxe is intended for the urban as well as for the mountain bike area. This bell looks very elegant and discreet. In addition, it hardly takes up any space on the handlebars: This also makes it perfect for mountain bikes. The Knog Oi Luxe is available in black, rose and silver.
Knog Fang
The Knog Fang is a lightweight carabiner-style multi-tool. It's made from advanced composite material that's said to be lighter than titanium and stronger than die-cast metal. The Fang contains 24 different tools: two magnetic tire levers, a packaging opener, bit plugs, magnetically lockable bit holders with 4, 5, 6 mm and Phillips bits. The Knog Fong also includes a metric and imperial ruler, a 5mm, 8mm, 10mm, 11mm, 13mm and 15mm hex wrench. Of course, a bottle opener should not be missing. Knog Blind Beam
The Knog Blinder Beam is a high-power bicycle lamp with white LED and side lighting. The Blinder Beam is StVZO approved and comes with a polycarbonate housing that has been fitted with a UV-resistant silicone body and an aluminum front cover with cooling fins. The Blinder Beam brings 300 lumens. So you should get a visibility of about one kilometer. Three different light modes can be set: High (300 lumens), Medium (200 lumens) and Low (150 lumens). In high mode, the Knog Blinder Beam has a burn time of approx. 1,5 hours, in medium 2,3 hours and in low 4,4 hours. The 2.400 mAh lithium polymer battery is integrated and has a built-in USB charging connector with storage mode. The battery needs seven hours to be fully charged. The Knog Blinder Beam weighs 150 grams and costs 129,99 euros. The scope of delivery includes a helmet mount, the Knog Blinder Beam 300 lumens, a USB extension cable and two flexible silicone loops for attachment. The Blinder Beam is also available with 220 lumens and 170 lumens.
Knog Blind Mob
The Knog Blinder Mob is a powerful bicycle lamp with white LED for the front or red LED for the rear, an integrated reflector and side lighting. The Blinder Mob is StVZO approved and consists of a polycarbonate housing, which is covered with a UV-resistant silicone body and an aluminum front cover. Knog uses the well-known manufacturer Osram as the illuminant. In this version, there are two different modes: In the High level, the Blinder Mob delivers (80 lumens), in Low (50 lumens). With the red LEDs that are for the back, the Blinder Mob brings 8 lumens. The burning time of the red LED lamp is a whopping 7,9 hours. With the white LED, i.e. the front lamp, the Blinder Mob manages 1,7 hours in high mode and 3,2 hours in low mode. The lithium-polymer battery with 560 mAh is integrated and requires 4 hours to be fully charged. Knog lamps are waterproof and dustproof to IP67. In terms of weight, the front LED lamp weighs 41 grams and the rear one 39 grams. The Blinder Mob is available for EUR 49,99 each.
