Product news: Direct Mount took the mountain bike market by storm a few years ago and is now the standard for single systems. With the Rotor Direct Mount cranks, Rotor already showed at the Eurobike what the future of racing bikes looks like and that this is no longer a vision.
Bolt circles, chain ring bolts, spiders and the associated compatibility lists - all this unnecessarily complicates our life with the road bike. The Direct Mount standard, which has been perfected for a long time, tidies up in the long term and now also enables the use of this fantastically simple and sensible system solution on racing bikes, which is also backwards compatible with Direct Mount spiders.
With the introduction of the completely newly developed road bike cranks Aldhu and Vegast as modular systems (left crank arm, right crank arm, axle with DM spline) plus a direct mount chainring and an 8mm Allen key, assembly/disassembly becomes child's play. And not only popular with 1x systems like XC/Gravel, but now also with 2x chainrings.
All 1x/2x chainrings are installed by unscrewing the right crank arm, removing/replacing the chain ring and fixing the crank arm. With a single standard tool, this process can be completed in just a few minutes. The systemic advantages of Direct Mount are obvious: direct traction, no more creaking chainring bolts, quick on-site changes and an extremely tidy design.
Of course, the Rotor Direct Mount cranks are fully compatible with Shimano, Sram and Campa 2×11. The widely used bolt circles 110×4 (available) and 110×5 (from September 2018) are covered by the two specially developed ROTOR Direct Mount Spiders. This is how the connection between traditional technology and the future succeeds in an elegant way.
Rotor Direct Mount crank Vegast - the new standard at a competitive price
Aldhu and Vegast share axle and chainrings, also the spider if desired. The difference is simply in the crank arm length options. Aldhu offers 7 of them, the Vegast 3. In addition, the Vegast is 34g heavier. The most striking difference is the price, because the VEGAST is already available for 130 euros (RRP) plus axle (50 EUR) and chainrings
(1x round DM 140 / oval 160 EUR - 2x round DM 180 / oval 200 EUR).

In summary: the advantages of Rotor Direct Mount on racing bikes
Quick and easy assembly/disassembly, no special tools required, perfect adhesion - since the chainring and axle are directly connected to each other, fewer components and low weight, aerodynamically and visually advantageous. Rotor is already fully committed to the Direct Mount System. All road bike cranks launched this year, including the power meter, use the Direct Mount standard.
