Product news: Giant Trance 2019 - with a completely revised frame

August 6, 2018 by Simon Bayer

Product news: Giant unveils the new Trance models for 2019. The world-famous bicycle manufacturer is launching the new trail bike Trance for the coming 2019 season. The frame has been completely revised - even lighter, advanced geometry and of course with the latest generation of the Maestro rear triangle.

The frame gets a completely new geometry tailored to the 29-inch wheels and some trend-setting innovations for its Maestro suspension. The Trance family includes two different series - a full advanced composite series with a carbon frame and the new ALUXX SL series with an aluminum frame. Both series offer 115 mm of travel at the rear, while a 130 mm suspension fork works at the front.

The new frame has shorter chain stays of 435 mm, which places the 29 inch rear wheel close to the rider, which should ensure an agile riding experience, especially on climbs and narrow single trails. A steering angle of 66,5 degrees in combination with a 74,5 degree seat angle is intended to achieve the optimal balance of direct driving feel and smooth running on the trail.

The Giant Maestro rear triangle update includes the new Trunnion damper mount, which allows for a lower gear ratio and thus improves drivetrain and braking efficiency. In addition, the damper will be controlled by Giant's new Advanced Forged Carbon rocker arm, which is said to be lighter, stiffer and more stable than its aluminum predecessor. All new Trance 29 models use the new Boost standard, which offers more tire clearance.

All Trance models are available in four different sizes from S-XL.

Giant Trance Advanced Pro 29

Giant trance 2019

The Giant Trance Advanced Pro 29 is equipped with a carbon frame with integrated cable routing, a Fox Performance 34 Float with 130 mm travel and a Fox Performance Float DPX2 damper. Components from Sram are used for the circuit. As with many current models, a Sram GX Eagle is also used here. Sram products are also trusted for the brakes and a Guide T 4-piston brake is installed in the Advanced Pro model.

When it comes to the wheels, Giant relies on their own brand and uses the TRX 1 carbon wheelset. As with almost all Giant models, Maxxis tires are mounted on the wheels. Products from our own company are used for accessories such as saddle, handlebars, stem, grips and seat post.

Price: 4799 euros

The Giant Trance 29er 1 model uses similar components as the Trance Advanced Pro 29. The frame here is made of AluXX SL aluminum. Giant uses a Fox Performance Elite Float DPS for the damper, a Fox Performance 34 Elite is also used for the suspension fork and Sram Guide R 4 piston brakes are used for the brakes. Accessory components are also installed from the own brand.

Price: 3899 euros

Giant Trance 29er 2

The cheapest variant of the Trance model comes with a Sram NX Eagle, Giant XCT aluminum wheels, a Fox Rhythmn 34 Float and a Fox Performance Float DPS damper. Giant also gets the handlebars, stem, grips, saddle and seat post from their own brand. The Maxxis tires with EXO carcass and Tubeless Ready are mounted on all Trance models.
