cycling: Cycling transfers: Geschke, Terpstra & Kreuziger find new employers

August 16, 2018 by Michael Behringer

Cycling Transfers Simon Geschke

Cycling: The transfer carousel keeps turning. Now Simon Geschke, Niki Terpstra and Roman Kreuziger have also signed new contracts. Somewhat surprisingly, all three will wear different kits next season.

Simon Geschke is leaving his team after 10 years

Actually is Simon Geschke (Sunweb) what can be called a loyal driver. The German has been riding for Team Sunweb and its previous sponsors for ten years. Now, however, Simoni has decided to look for a new challenge. Somewhat surprisingly, he has signed with BMC's successor team for the 2019 season. So he becomes a teammate of the Swiss Michael Schar (BMC), who extended his contract. Also switch to the new CCC team Will Barta (Hagens Berman Axeon) and Serge Pauwels (DimensionData). Alessandro De Marchi (BMC) has just like Szymon Sanjok (CCC) signed a new contract. In addition to the BMC and CCC teams, the Bahrain Merida team is particularly active on the transfer market this year. The team struck again this week. While Manuel Boaro will set up camp with the Astana team, Bahrain has Merida Jan Tratnik (CCC) signed.

Direct Energie manages a transfer coup

It has long been known that the sports management of the Quick-Step Floors team is looking for a new sponsor. Actually, this shouldn't be that difficult, after all, you could celebrate 54 victories this season. So far, however, no new donor has been found. The team will have to do without one of their best drivers in 2019. Niki Terpstra turns his back on the team and soon drives for Direct Energie. With this transfer, the French move one step closer to the WorldTour license. Other French teams have also been active on the transfer market in recent days. Dorian Godon transfers from Cofidis to AG2R La Mondiale. Also changed within France Arthur Vichot his looks. After nine years at FDJ, he is drawn to Vital Concept. Committed to Dimension Data Rasmus Tiller (Joker Icopal) and Stefan de Bod from our own farm team, as well as Roman Crucifier (Mitchelton-Scott). Also changes David Ballerini (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec) to Astana and Lennard Hofstede (Sunweb) to LottoNL-Jumbo.
