cycling: European Track Cycling Championships in Glasgow: The schedule for the fight for the medals

August 2, 2018 by Michael Behringer

World Track Cycling Championships

Cycling: Today the track cycling championship starts in Glasgow. There are numerous competitions for gold, silver and bronze. We present you the European Track Cycling Championship schedule for the deciding runs. Despite the sporting importance, many athletes still have their heads with the injured Kristina Vogel.

"We will miss Kristina Vogel"

When the European Track Cycling Championships start in Glasgow on Thursday, one of the best athletes will be missing. Kristina Vogel had a serious fall during training in Cottbus at the end of June. Since then, the eleven-time world champion has been treated in a Berlin hospital. Exact information on her state of health is not known.

Sports Director of the Federation of German Cyclists, Patrick Moster:
"She will be missed. It's our team's first major international appearance since Kristina's accident. She has not only been our top performer, but also a great leader.”

Kristina Vogel is particularly missed by her team sprint partner Miriam Welte, on whom the greatest hopes for a medal now rest. The 31-year-old announced that the team sprint will be very difficult for her under the circumstances mentioned. However, together with Emma Hinze, she will try everything.

Miriam Welte:
"They want to wait until all the operations are done. And when she's better, she'll tell everyone what's wrong with her."

European Track Cycling Championships Schedule: This is where the medals will be awarded in Glasgow

The starting signal will be given at 20 p.m. today in the Velodrome in Glasgow. Qualifying in the women's and men's team pursuits is on the agenda. However, medals will not be distributed today. It won't be until tomorrow at the women's scratch for the first time. The athletes will fight for gold, silver and bronze until Tuesday.
