Product news: Cube mountain bikes 2019: The highlights for the coming season

August 7, 2018 by Michael Faiss

Product news / MTB: Especially when it comes to mountain bikes, hardly any other manufacturer can keep up with Cube's selection and value for money. If you take a closer look at the 2019 range, little will probably change in the coming year. We took a look at the highlights of the 2019 Cube mountain bikes.

Cube Mountain Bikes 2019: Cube Reaction 2019

The Reaction is one of the perennial favorites among Cube mountain bikes. With its large price range, aluminum and carbon frame and balanced geometry, it covers a huge range of potential off-road friends - from the occasional touring rider to the hobby athlete with an affinity for racing. This principle will not change at all in 2019 - the Reaction will get some exciting new equipment variants.

The Reaction Pro is the starting point. The bike with an aluminum frame comes with Shimano XT 1.099-speed gears and a RockShox Recon Silver suspension fork for €11. If you prefer a carbon frame, you get almost the same equipment as the Reaction Pro, but with a carbon frame, on the Reaction C:62. The carbon entry-level model will cost €1.499 and, at 12,3kg, is over a kilogram lighter than its aluminum counterpart.

Ambitious racers who can do without a front derailleur should take a look at the Reaction C:62 Race Eagle. This comes with a GX Eagle drive, a RockShox Reba fork and Fulcrum Red 55 wheels. For €2.299 it is a very coherent overall package. The new spearhead is the Reaction C:62 One, which comes with the new XTR group from Shimano and which we took a closer look at at the in-house exhibition.

Highlight of the new Reaction top model: Shimano's new 12-speed group
With the new group, Shimano made headlines when it was introduced.
The 10-51 cassette offers a little more range than its Sram counterpart.

Newmen 29 inch rims are installed on the Shimano XTR hubs.
Cube also relies on XTR quality for the brakes.

Cube Mountain Bikes 2019: Cube Acid 2019

The Cube Acid has always been the entry-level model in Cube's sporty hardtail range, appealing primarily to those who value the best possible price-performance ratio. For the 2019 model year, the aluminum frame receives several upgrades, including a press-fit bottom bracket and revised cable routing. Cube is launching two models of its "bread and butter" hardtail – both priced at 999€. In addition to a model with a 2x Shimano XT/SLX drivetrain and a Recon Silver fork from RockShox, the Acid Eagle with SRAM's new NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain is likely to find many fans.

Cube mountain bikes 2019: Cube AMS 100 2019

The Cube AMS 100 underwent a generous makeover last year and will therefore remain largely unchanged for 2019. The marathon and XC-Fully remains exclusively a 29″ bike and will also only be available with a carbon frame in the coming season. The entry-level model Cube AMS 100 C:68 Race 29 for €3.499 comes with Fox chassis and a Shimano XT 2-speed drivetrain. It weighs 11,5kg.

The top of the range is the AMS 100 C:68 SLT, which, for just under €6.000, includes a Fox Factory suspension, Newmen carbon wheels, and a Sram XX1 Eagle drivetrain. In between is the AMS 100 C:68 SL, which costs €4.999€ – also with Fox Factory suspension, but instead of the XX1 Eagle drive, there is the new Shimano XTR and you have to do without carbon wheels (here to test last year's model).

A little out of line is the new Cube AMS 100 C:68 TM, which is intended to bridge the gap between marathon and trail bikes with a 120mm fork, dropper post and slightly more trail-heavy equipment. We've already had the opportunity to kidnap the new bike for a short test ride.

Cube mountain bikes 2019: Cube Stereo 120 2019

If the AMS 100 is a bit too racy and you would like to have a few more reserves under your butt without wanting a trail bike directly, you will find it in the Cube Stereo 120. For 2019 it is only available as a 29″ bike and only with an aluminum frame. Getting started with the Stereo 120 Pro 29 for €1.599 is extremely affordable, although it is clear that you should not expect high-end equipment in view of this price. With the Suntour air suspension and Shimano Deore 10-speed drive, however, you get solid fare that should certainly give beginners a lot of pleasure.

The Stereo 120 also focuses on the new Trail Motion model Stereo 120 TM. You have to shell out almost €2.500, but you also get extremely coherent equipment including a GX Eagle drive and Fox suspension with 130mm at the front.

First Look: Cube Stereo 120™

Cube Stereo 120TM
Cube Stereo 120 TM 29: Sram GX Eagle, Fox 34 Rythm fork / DPS damper, Shimano XT M8020 brakes || Weight: 13,7kg || Price: €2.499

Nicely solved: The linkage lever is missing exposed bearing covers or screws.
The aluminum frame is manufactured using Cube's own HPA process.
Trail Motion: With this name, of course, a dropper post should not be missing. The remote is ergonomically attached.
4-piston power: At the front, an XT M8020 saddle from Shimano brings the bike to a standstill in good time.
The Fox suspension should have enough reserves for most moderate trails.
