Product news: Product news: Orbea Orca Aero Disc for more complete driving pleasure

July 16, 2018 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The Orbea Orca Aero Disc, as the successor to the already very fast Orca Aero, should deliver a significantly better performance through some changes to the overall concept. As the manufacturer explains, all the features that made the Orca Aero so successful have been combined, but innovations such as disc brakes and other improvements have also been added.

Orbea Orca Aero Disc - Features

Orbea Orca Aero Disc – aerodynamics

Free flow fork

The wider fork opening reduces the pressure of the air flow between the tire and fork and the resistance by 4 watts. This new fork meets the new UCI standard and outperforms all competitors by a ratio of 3:1.

Shortened tail

The shortened rear allows the use of a flatter tube, which in turn reduces airflow at the bottle cages.

double radius

The double radius opens up airflow around the tube profile and improves aerodynamics at all angles.

Flattened Sides

The flattened sides reduce air friction on the face of the tube and improve drag values at low speeds.

Seat post

The Orbea Orca Aero Disc seat post has an oval shape to reduce air turbulence without neglecting vibration damping. The post is reversible and adjustable using a system that offers a wider range of saddle adjustment than the competition

Orbea Orca Aero Disc - Stiffness

Structure

The optimized connections of the steering, bottom bracket and struts offer improved torsional resistance. For each wheel size, the cross sections are optimized to achieve a more rigid structure. A stiffer Orca Aero Disc also means improved transmission of rider power.

Orbea Orca Aero Disc - Integration

The specific design allows an easier adjustment of the integrated handlebar. Orbea's system allows the selection of different, perfectly integrated handlebar power options.

The ICR (internal wiring) guarantees the most economical internal routing of the cables without friction with easy assembly and low maintenance. The ICR Plus system is compatible with both mechanical and electronic and wireless transmission systems. The frame itself is also suitable for all switching systems.

The Orca Aero is also characterized by its flexibility and intelligent design. The multiple bottle cages with three fittings allow various configuration options while increasing aerodynamics and improving the position of the bike's center of gravity.
