greipel

Cycling: André Greipel can be happy. The 35-year-old was nominated for the Tour de France by his team Lotto Soudal, as was team-mate Marcel Sieberg. However, sprint ace Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott) is not included.

Greipel wants his twelfth stage win

Good news for the German pros at Team Lotto Soudal. The Belgian team announced today, Thursday, that both riders will be nominated for the Tour de France. sprinter André Greipel and approach Marcel Sieberg should ensure stage victories together in the mass sprints. The Hürther Greipel is aiming for his twelfth stage win in the Tour of France. Jasper De Buyst and Jens Keukeleire will also support the gorilla. Stage hunter Thomas De Gendt should not be missing from Lotto Soudal's line-up. The squad of eight is completed by Tiesj Benoot, Jelle Vanendert and Tomasz Marczynski. So the motto is clear: everyone rides for Greipel on flat stages. If it becomes hilly or even mountainous, you go into the escape group.

Mitchelton-Scott is banking everything on Adam Yates

Because André Greipel is the best sprinter on his team, it almost seems logical that he was nominated. The Mitchelton-Scott team proves that this is by no means a matter of course. The Australian team leaves their fastest man at home. Caleb ewan will not be able to hunt for stages at the 2018 Tour de France. Instead, Mitchelton-Scott is building a team around Adam Yates on. He will be joined in France by Luke Durbridge, Mathew Hayman, Michael Hepburn, Jack Bauer, Damien Howson, Daryl Impey and Mikel Nieve.

Mitchelton-Scott athletic director Matthew White:
“It has already been an incredibly successful season for our team and we are delighted with the strength and potential of the eight riders we have selected for the Tour de France. We know how strong the peloton will be and our ambitions are very high.”
