General: Öhlins presents new downhill double crown forks and conversion kits for RockShox Boxxer / Fox 40

June 26, 2018 by Andrew Waldera

Product news: Öhlins is expanding its downhill racing range with two brand new products. In addition to the Downhill Race Fork, the Swedish suspension specialist now offers a special conversion kit for the RockShox Boxxer and Fox 40. The products use TTX technology with a piston optimized for downhill use.

Many downhill riders have been waiting for these products for a long time: the new Öhlins DH Race Fork and the TTX 18 cartridge kits for installation in the RockShox Boxxer and Fox 40. The piston of the TTX 18 cartridge kit, which has been specially optimized for downhill use, has a finer response and improved damping, according to Öhlins, with a diameter of 18 millimeters. The Öhlins DH Race Fork also benefits from these advantages, since the TTX 18 cartridge kit is installed in it. With an adjustment range designed for gravity action, the system can be perfectly adapted to the respective routes. The high-speed damping of the compression stage can be adjusted with five clicks, the low-speed damping of the rebound and compression stage with 15 clicks each. The air spring has three air chambers and uses two pistons. The Total Tune Spring Curve System (TTSC) allows the rider individual tuning from the first response to the end stop.

The floating and double-clamp 20 millimeter thru axle of the Öhlins DH Race Fork has a 110 millimeter boost width for extra torsional rigidity. A conventional 20 mm thru-axle cannot be used - at least not without an adapter. The Swedes offer four offset variants 46/50/54/58 for the double bridge fork. The best possible individuality, which, however, costs 379,99 euros per pair of crowns. The standpipe diameter is 38 mm, the dust wipers are from SKF. Öhlins specifies the maximum tire width as 29" x 2,8" or 27,5" x 3,0". The DH Race Fork is available at a price of 1739,99 euros, but the fork crown is not included in the scope of delivery. This must be ordered separately depending on the desired offset. As already mentioned, 379,99 euros are added here. The TTX 18 cartridge kits for converting the RockShox Boxxer or Fox 40 are available for EUR 815,00 each.
