Team Lübbering/Inside Blogs: After the start in Göttingen, the second race of the GCC in Leipzig, the Neuseen Classics, was on the racing calendar last weekend.
After the majority of our starters had collected a good amount of kilometers on the way from Regensburg to Prague last weekend, we were now back at the start with fresh legs.
From the A block we went with 2 drivers and 4 drivers on the 100 km route. The starting shot was fired at 9:30 a.m. in glorious weather – later still characterized by heavy rain showers and many falls, all Team Lübbering members crossed the finish line safely.
The strong teams dominated the first few kilometers of the flat and bumpy route. Michael was able to hold his own in the leading group throughout the race and achieve an excellent 35th place. Manuela continued her series of successes and, like in Göttingen, achieved third place.
After a good 70 km I lost contact with my field and had to let Oli go - no group to be seen far and wide - I continued on my own and tried not to lose too much time. In the end it was enough for me to finish 18th. Oli was able to move further groups forward and crossed the finish line in 185th place. Angela struggled with the hard pace after the corners and initially had to let some groups go. After finding her rhythm again, she finished 24th. Merle found a group that worked well for most of the route, but had to struggle through the last few kilometers on his own and finished 31st happily.
All in all, a super nice route around the Neuseen with well-organized marshals and an attractive supporting program including street food and fixie races the evening before our race. Leipzig - we'll be back!
