Helper services & freedoms for the professionals at Bora-hansgrohe

With three pilots from Germany and two from Austria, the German team Bora-hansgrohe has the largest German-speaking contingent in the peloton. Each individual driver can also realize their own ambitions if the opportunity arises. The team will captain Davide Formolo from Italy for the general classification and Sam Bennett from Ireland for the bunch sprints. For the latter, Rüdiger Selig be important. As he approaches the final sprint, prepare Andrew Schillinger and Christopher Pentecost the mass arrival. The Austrians have specialized more in mountainous terrain Patrick Conrad and Felix Grossschartner. There they not only act as valuable helpers for Davide Formolo, but will also be allowed to go on the offensive on one or the other stage. A stage win by an Austrian from the Bora-hansgrohe team would be anything but a surprise. Konrad and Großschartner have already proven this season that they are to be reckoned with.

Martin, Schachmann & Denz break away

The teams Katusha-Alpecin, Quick-Step Floors and AG2018R La Mondiale go without a clear captain for the general classification of the Giro d'Italia 2. This is very convenient for the three German professionals, as it allows them to realize their own wishes. It has to be said that the Katusha-Alpecin team is sending a relatively weak team to the Giro d'Italia. Normally, nobody here should be able to finish at the top of the overall rankings or in a bunch sprint. Therefore, the team will specialize in the escape groups. seeks himself Tony Martin two or three exciting stages and is aiming for victory in the time trials, but success is definitely possible. The same applies to Maximilian Schachman. His team, Quick-Step Floors, will ride the flat sections for sprinter Elia Viviani, but Maximilan Schachmann is the trump card for an escape as soon as it gets a little wavy. Also Nico Denz we will see on the offensive at the Giro d'Italia. With Alexandre Geniez AG2R has a strong climber in the team, but the team is traditionally very aggressive.

All resources for the classification drivers from Sky, BMC & FDJ

The teams Sky, BMC and Groupama-FDJ are fully focused on the overall standings. Therefore, the German-speaking professionals employed there act as classic helpers. Has been seen in this role for years Christian knees in Team Sky, who has already helped Chris Froome to several victories in the Tour de France and will now also devote his energy to this goal at the Giro d'Italia. The Swiss Kilian Frankiny is to support Rohan Dennis from Team BMC in the mountains during his first Giro d'Italia. At the same time, the Tour of Italy should serve to gain experience and to recognize how far Frankiny is in the development towards a strong tour driver. Already an old hand at the age of 35 Steve Morabito. The Swiss from Team Groupama-FDJ will be together with his compatriot Sebastien Reichenbach and the Austrian Georg preidler be there for Thibaut Pinot. Above all uphill and downhill, the Frenchman will rely on the help of the three experienced professionals. The German-speaking professionals from Sky, BMC and FDJ will probably not be able to realize their own ambitions at the Giro d'Italia.
