cycling: Cycling dates: These are the highlights in May

2 May 2018 by Michael Behringer

Cycling dates May Giro

Cycling: When it comes to cycling dates, the month is all about the Giro d'Italia. The German one-day classic Eschborn-Frankfurt kicked off the month wonderfully. But even during and after the Tour of Italy, the world of cycling still has some interesting highlights in store for the fans.

Cycling dates in May: everything pink or what?

In the cycling world, the color pink dominates in May. No wonder, because with that 101st Giro d'Italia the first major tour of the country is on the agenda. From May 4th to 27th, the pros will drive through Italy – and a bit through Israel as well. But the month of May still has a few more cycling events and cycling highlights in store for the fans. Already on May 1st, the spectators were able to admire the oldest one-day classic in Germany. After an exciting race, Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) won ahead of Michael Matthews (Sunweb) Eschborn-Frankfurt. Away from the Giro, some pros are honing their form for the Tour de France at the Tour of California. Among others, Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe), Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors), Marcel Kittel (Katusha-Alpecin) and Rafal Majka (Bora-hansgrohe) will be there. Furthermore, the cyclists collect their racing kilometers outside of the WorldTour on tours in Korea, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway and Estonia. So it won't be boring - no wonder - even in May.
