General: New Öhlins TTX 22 M Trunnion Custom Series damper for Enduro and Gravity

April 26, 2018 by Andrew Waldera

Market: With the TTX 22 M, Öhlins created a benchmark in the MTB shock segment for the 2013 season. The damper, which was initially only available as an OEM part for Specialized AM bikes, caused a sensation right from the start. Now the Swedish suspension specialist is following suit with the Öhlins TTX 22 M Trunnion.

The new Öhlins TTX 22 M Trunnion damper was developed for Enduro and Gravity use. Equipped with TTX technology, the shock absorber, which is also available in metric sizes, should ensure even damping performance and sensitive response. The externally adjustable low- and high-speed compression damping and rebound damping promise an easy setup. The adjustment range of the individual damping levels is very wide: 3 times for high speed, 16 times for low speed and 7 times for rebound.

All TTX 22 M Trunnion dampers also feature a "Stability Mode" in the third position of the high-speed compression damping, which ensures less movement in the damper on less technical uphill sections. For dampers with an installation width of 22 millimeters or more, Öhlins offers optional ball joints to reduce lateral forces. According to the manufacturer, including the ball joint, the damper weighs between 423 and 454 grams, depending on the version. New, weight-optimized springs have also been developed for the Öhlins TTX 22 M Trunnion damper. These should be between 25 and 30% lighter than conventional springs. The product is expected to be available from August 2018.
