Product news: MET Trenta and Manta in new design for UAE, Aru and Kristoff

February 13rd 2018 by Florian Nowak

Product news: For the new 2018 season, MET Helmets, the helmet supplier to the WorldTour Team UAE Emirates, has come up with a few new helmet designs for the team, as well as for the Italian champion Fabio Aru and the European champion Alexander Kristoff. In addition to the MET Trenta 3K Carbon, the team will also have the lightning-fast MET Manta at their disposal.

Just last year, MET celebrated its 30th anniversary in the cycling industry. As part of this celebration, the newest member of the MET helmet family, the MET Trenta (Italian for thirty), was introduced. Since the products are particularly performance-oriented and meet the highest demands, the UAE Team Emirates, one of the world's best cycling teams, is also equipped in 2018. In addition to the MET Trenta, the pros also use the aerodynamically optimized MET Manta and even enjoy a special team design. The helmets of European Champion Alexander Kristoff and Italian Champion Fabio Aru are also kept in the individual jersey colors.

MET Trenta – technologies at a glance

In a small overview we have summarized the technologies and features of the MET Trenta for you.

MET Trenta – 3K CARBON TECHNOLOGY

With the so-called 3K carbon technology, a significant advance could already be made in the construction of the MET Trenta. In fact, the elasticity of carbon allows the density of the EPS foam used in the rest of the helmet to be reduced without compromising its capacity to absorb energy. This means that you can guarantee more protection despite less material and consequently lower weight. In addition, parallel grooves run from the middle of the helmet, which are linked to the carbon frame to save more grams.

MET Trenta—NACA VENT

MET has attracted a lot of attention in the past with its Venuri ventilation system. With the NACA Vent, this technology has now been further refined in the MET Trenta. There are openings on the front of the helmet through which the wind and air can get into the helmet. The special shape of the helmet pushes the air backwards and thus ensures a cooling effect. This ensures constant airflow through the helmet without catching or braking the wind. The rear has also been specially adapted for ventilation, as this has a major impact on how well the heat dissipation works. The MET Trenta features a flattened "tail" that is angled at 25°, which optimizes airflow.

MET Trenta - TUBE-SHAPED Tail

In order to achieve the main goal of low weight and aerodynamics, the tail of the helmet has also been aerodynamically revised. In conjunction with the NACA front vent and rear deflector you get an additional aerodynamic advantage. This profile was developed through specific wind tunnel tests at the NEWTON laboratory in Milan.

MET Trenta – FIT SYSTEM, SAFE-T ORBITAL

What would a helmet be without the right shape and the protection it offers. With the help of an all-round belt, one can make 360° adjustments by adding 4 positions for height adjustment and 2 positions for occipital adjustments. Also, the helmet is ponytail "compatible".

MET Trenta & MET Manta – The special designs

Of course, everything has to fit together with the pros, which is why there are MET helmets in a special team design for the riders of the WorldTour Team UAE Emirates. The champions, such as Fabio Aru and Alexander Kristoff, also get special paintwork. The MET Manta is already available in the special livery, the MET Trenta will hit stores and be available in the special livery during the Giro d'Italia.

At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
