February 22rd 2018 by Andrew Waldera

Spectrum: North Rhine-Westphalia's largest bicycle fair "Fahrrad Essen" opens its doors today. For four days, the metropolis in the Ruhr area will be the capital of cyclists. Around 17.000 exhibitors present the trends and highlights of the industry on more than 250 square meters. The motto of Fahrrad Essen is: Test first, then decide!

For four days, the metropolis of Essen in the Ruhr region will be all about cycling. Fahrrad Essen awaits visitors on more than 17.000 square meters with an attractive mix of information, test opportunities and purchase options. Around 250 exhibitors present their latest products and offers at the largest bicycle fair in North Rhine-Westphalia. Well-known manufacturers such as Bergamont, Hartje, Koga, Rose Bikes and ZEG (Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft) are represented. In addition to the manufacturers, there are also various dealers and representatives of cycling and cycling tourism on site. Fahrrad Essen thus covers the entire field of cycling. Under the motto "First test, then decide", visitors can obtain extensive information and test their dream bike in advance.

A total of four courses are available to visitors for testing. In Hall 6 you will find the amateur course for bicycles without an electric drive. Pedelecs, on the other hand, can be put through their paces on a dedicated test track in Hall 7. For the first time this year there are also so-called check-in stands. Here the exhibitors make the bikes available to visitors directly for testing. In Hall 8, the kids can look forward to their own course for mountain bikes, scooters and balance bikes. Daily demonstrations and workshops await visitors on the trial course in Hall 6. A special show with cargo bikes will also be celebrating its premiere this year in Hall 6. On Saturday, a cargo bike race will be held for this occasion, in which not only speed but also skill in loading and unloading are required. Registration for this extraordinary race is possible online or on site.

Of course, the topic of cycle tourism is not neglected at North Rhine-Westphalia's largest bicycle fair. Cities, regions and travel providers present themselves from their best side and do not skimp on incentives for upcoming vacation planning. The partner of Fahrrad Essen is the RadClub Deutschland, which provides entertainment with its show truck and a varied supporting program. At the same time as Fahrrad Essen, the holiday fair Reise + Camping takes place in Essen.
