cycling: Cycling highlights in March 2018: Classic & WorldTour tours

February 26rd 2018 by Michael Behringer

Milan-Sanremo

Cycling: February demanded a lot from the peloton. In Cycling March, however, the wheels will turn even faster. The 2018 season is really starting now. With Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour of Catalonia, three WorldTour tours are on the program. Cycling fans should paint the 3.3. and March 17.3th, when Strade Bianche and Milan-Sanremo are all about victory. At the end of the month, the cobblestones dominate. It's all there in cycling March 2018!

Classics await you in cycling in March

Even if we already saw interesting races in February, the field of drivers will only really pick up momentum in March. This becomes particularly clear in the area of one-day races. Here it comes in quick succession. Almost every race is worth seeing. Let's start right away on 3.3. with the white streets Strade Bianche. Three-time cross world champion Wout Van Aert (Veranda's Willems-Crelan) will also be at the start of the mix of cross-country and road races. However, the road world champion Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) will wear the rainbow jersey. As will 17.3/XNUMX when Sagan will reach for the first monument of the season. At Milan-Sanremo he had to in the past year settle for second place. John Degenkolb (Trek-Segafredo) will also try his luck in the Italian classic. Then the two of them head towards the cobblestones. With the E3 Prijs Vlaanderen, Gent-Wevelgem and Straight through Flanders the cycling March is rounded off with one-day races.

Important tours in Italy, France & Spain

Round trips in Italy, France and Spain? No, we haven't arrived at the Grand Tours yet, but there will be a first taste in Cycling March. Get started Paris-Nice from March 4th to 11th with Daniel Martin (UAE Team Emirates), Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha-Alpecin) and Warren Barguil (Fortuneo-Samsic). The top sprinters Marcel Kittel (Katusha-Alpecin), André Greipel (Lotto Soudal) and Elia Viviani (Quick-Step Floors) have also confirmed their participation. Particularly interesting: Ours 5towatch candidates Felix Grossschartner (Bora-hansgrohe), Phil Bauhaus (Sunweb) and Marc Soler (Movistar) are also there.

Zu Tirreno-Adriatico from March 7th to 13th Romain Bardet (AG2R), Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida), Richie Porte (BMC), Rafal Majka (Bora-hansgrohe), Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb), Fabio Aru (UAE Team Emirates) and Chris Froome (Sky). Hill-proof sprinters like Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) and Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) are also in demand here. It gets even more challenging between March 19th and 25th: At the Tour of Catalonia it just goes up and down. Can Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) get his next title here?
