Cycling: André Greipel (Lotto Soudal) won the last leg of the Tour Down Under. In the mass sprint, the German was able to prevail in front of Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott) and Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe). Greipel is already celebrating victory #18 at the Tour Down Under. World champion Peter Sagan can look forward to winning the green jersey. The South African Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) couldn't be denied the overall victory of the Tour Down Under.
Tour Down Under ends with 20 laps of 4,5 km
Today we were presented with the final act of the 2018 Tour Down Under. In Adelaide they had to cover 90 kilometers, all on a 4,5 kilometer circuit. Before the 20 laps were tackled, some drivers answered questions from the Australian television channel 9Now. Among others, André Greipel (Lotto Soudal), Caleb Ewan (Mitchelton-Scott), Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) and of course the leader Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott). He revealed that he never expected to start this final stage in ocher. In a mass sprint, however, Daryl Impey would work for teammate Caleb Ewan despite the narrow lead over Richie Porte (BMC) and would not sprint by seconds himself. Even if he admitted: "It is not over till it's over." World champion Peter Sagan, who wanted to win the green jersey in addition to the stage win, was similarly confident: “It is important to me to win this stage. But of course I also want to take the sprint jersey home with me.”

Greipel uses all his experience
The course of the last stage is quickly told. Again and again some professionals attacked. In fact, they were able to settle down Ben O'Connor (Dimension Data) and Logan owen (EF Education). The sprint and mountain classifications didn't bring any tension, because on the one hand there were always enough riders in front and on the other hand the mountain classification was decided - in favor of Nicholas Lamini (DimensionData). Countless teams were interested in a mass sprint today so that the last breakaway could be caught early. Sunweb for Phil Bauhaus and Quick-Step Floors for Elia Viviani tried to keep things in order for the last kilometer. In the end, however, others set the pace. Caleb ewan stuck his nose into the wind too soon. Take advantage of this slipstream André Greipel perfect with all his experience. The 35-year-old wins again Stage #1 also the last part of the Tour Down Under. With #3 secured himself Peter Sagan the green jersey. Phil Bauhaus was fourth.
