Market: Starting with the 2018 season, Team Sunweb and Sigma Sport have announced a technology partnership for the coming years. By the end of 2021, Sigma Sport and Team Sunweb will jointly develop innovative bike computer technologies to record and monitor rider data. This enables the team to track all valuable parameters. The data obtained in this way also enriches the drivers' training plans.
Team Sunweb and Sigma Sport have entered into a German partnership because of their roots. Sigma Sport brought the first bike computer onto the market in 1982 and has continuously developed it over the past 35 years and helped shape the latest trends. In addition to bike computers, the range also includes lighting and wearables.
The new partnership with German WorldTour Team Sunweb aims to see both parties leverage each other's extensive expertise in the field of technology to track and analyze training and competition data. The aim is to develop new products for cyclists with the support of the Sunweb team.
“We look forward to working with Team Sunweb in the years to come. The team's strategy goes hand in hand with ours: we are always looking for the latest innovations and new ways to improve our products. The expertise and experience that the team provides us with through its large number of experts will decisively support the development of new products. Among other things, the bike computer that the team is equipped with is constantly being further developed. Ultimately, both recreational athletes and ambitious cyclists benefit from these innovations at the highest level.” – Robin Schendel, CEO of SIGMA Sport
“We are very pleased that this partnership is becoming a reality. It is great to work with such an innovative and research-led company as SIGMA Sport. The devices contain everything a WorldTour team needs; They provide extensive training data, which is crucial in such a science-driven environment.
In addition, this partnership is particularly exciting because we will work together on new training equipment. We, as experts at Team Sunweb, will provide SIGMA with feedback to help the company develop new products.” -Tom Davids, R&D Expert at Team Sunweb
