cycling: Michael Rasmussen makes fun of Sky & Chris Froome

Chris Froome Michael Rasmussen Sky

Cycling: Michael Rasmussen is certainly not an innocent lamb when it comes to doping abuse in cycling. However, the Dane is not holding back on this topic. He is currently making fun of Chris Froome and the British team Sky on social media.

"Chris Froome would be in Paris a day earlier"

Michael Rasmussen has been very active on Twitter for years. It's not worth following him because of his witty comments, but rather because he discovered the entertainer in himself. Again and again funny comments and poisonous tips are dished out. His latest victim is Chris Froome. In a tweet, Michael Rasmussen wonders about the Briton's many illnesses.

Michael Rasmussen:
“It's unbelievable how many different illnesses Chris Froome picked up in his life. Despite this, he is still the best Grand Tour rider in the world. If it weren't for his illnesses, he would probably be a day ahead of everyone else on the podium in Paris.”

Unreal how many different deceases Froome has accumulated through his life while still being able to be the worlds best Grand Tour rider.Without any of these medical conditions he would have been on the podium in Paris a day before everybody else #BSalerthttps://t.co/KjiCVDFZxs pic.twitter.com/47de0OaqOi

Sky also feels Rasmussen's irony

But not only Chris Froome was a victim of the new Michael Rasmussen. His team Sky also gets a lot of criticism. In an ironic way, the Dane thinks it's great how the British team takes care of sick people.

Michael Rasmussen:
“Two teams drive for a good cause: Only drivers who suffer from diabetes can join the Novo Nordisk team. And Team Sky favors professionals who suffer from kidney failure, schistosomiasis, asthma, low testosterone, allergies and bronchitis.”

"If there is a loophole, it will be used."

Despite his dark past, one thing has to be said about Michael Rasmussen: he has been criticizing Chris Froome and Team Sky for quite some time. Even before Chris Froome's conspicuous test was announced, he found the entire team rather questionable. In an interview with Süddeutsche during the 2017 Tour de France, he questioned the credibility of the excuses.

Michael Rasmussen:
“Sky talks about deep cleanliness and preaches transparency. But it takes them eight months to explain that the package contained a cough suppressant that had to be shipped from England to Bradley Wiggins in France. You could get it at any pharmacy. It just doesn't add up. The medical exemptions are also still a big loophole. And if there is a loophole, it will be used.”
