components: Test: Anyrace - Golden Ride chassis tuning

2 December 2017 by the editorial office

Test: Although chassis are becoming more and more innovative and better, there are a handful of companies and inventors who are not satisfied with the series products. Since 2015, there has also been Anyrace from Munich, who want to make the dream of the perfect chassis a reality with their Golden Ride tuning package. A reason for me to get to know Anyrace better and to test the Golden Ride.

Who is Anyrace?

I got into conversation with Johannes Fageth during the Glemmride Festival in Saalbach. Full of enthusiasm he tells me about Anyrace and the Golde Ride chassis tuning. The business graduate founded Anyrace in 2015 together with Stefan Kecht, chassis developer and test driver of a Munich-based global automotive group. Before that, the two had sacrificed almost all of their free time for three years and worked on their idea of the perfect chassis. Since the company was founded, Anyrace has been offering customer-specific chassis tuning with components developed in-house.

What is behind the Golden Ride Tuning?

The Golden Ride suspension tuning is available for spring elements with Rock Shox Charger cartridges. Depending on the fork model, the Charger RC or RCT3 cartridge serves as the basis for the tuning. The interior of the cartridge is completely replaced by components developed in-house and individually adapted to the customer and his driving style. In addition, the friction coefficient of the suspension fork is optimized, which should reduce the overall friction by 50%. Thus, the customer should receive a chassis that is perfectly tailored to his needs and should give him maximum grip and driving pleasure. Anyrace is so confident in their product that they even promise a satisfaction guarantee and will refund the customer if the product does not produce the desired effect.

The components are individually adapted to the customer in precision work.

Technical details of the Golden Ride

After the customer's wishes have been clarified through individual advice, the basis of every tuning at Anyrace is the optimization of the coefficient of friction. Here, the total friction is reproducibly reduced by 50% using proprietary oil and seals from Racingbros. This is made possible primarily by the special oil, which means that the oil film does not tear off and dry friction cannot occur.

In addition, the damping system of the closed charger cartridge is modified. The heart of this is the Anyrace valve body, which achieves better opening behavior of the shim stacks. The shim stacks for rebound and compression are individually adapted to the customer. This is intended to generate comfort-compatible support and maximum grip. In addition, a so-called frequency-selective damping should be made possible by an additional opening in the piston valve. This should make the fork more supple with short strokes (roots, stones) and smoother and more controlled with longer strokes (jumps, berms).

racing use

Just a few days after I met Johannes, my Rock Shox Boxxer test fork was handed to me by the parcel delivery company. Since I had already spoken extensively to Anyrace about my riding style and my needs, no further adjustment of the fork was necessary and the first race was on. In fact, the first thing you notice is the response. Although I have the same Boxxer fork myself, you can't compare them. The breakaway torque is significantly lower and the classic parking lot test was already promising.

On the track, too, I immediately got along very well with the new fork and was able to benefit from the promised improvements through the tuning. However, the second time I used the fork in the next race and on a slightly rougher track, the chassis was generally a bit too soft for me, which often meant that I had too much suspension travel. No problem either, because with Anyrace a one-off adjustment of the fork is included in the price. After adjusting the shim stacks, I was then satisfied with the performance.

Outlook

For Anyrace, the goal has not yet been reached with the Golden Ride and we are currently working diligently on further projects. I will continue to test the Golden Ride in the coming season and let you know if I can gain any interesting experiences.

Stefan and Johannes from Anyrace turn their passion into a profession, which can be seen in their products. They are very close to the customer, which means that as a buyer you always have a red line to both of them if you have any questions or problems. The Golden Ride was convincing in the test and I'm curious to see what else will be heard from the two guys in the future.
