Product news: Flat pedals are now like the proverbial sand by the sea. However, the Hope F20 stand out from the crowd in many ways - not least because of their robust construction, which is designed to last.
components: Hope F20: platform pedals under test
Test: Due to the attention to detail and their above-average quality, Hope products have established themselves as a constant in the field of high-quality bike parts. All components of the British cult forge are produced in-house in Barnoldswick, and have been for over 25 years. For our test series "Best list of platform pedals" we chose the stylish Hope F20 pedal […]
In the bicycle industry there are very few manufacturers like the British from Hope. Here they have managed to save traditional, sometimes almost romantic ideas regarding production, marketing and overall philosophy in the present of the hard-fought industry. All products are still conceived, designed and produced in our own workshops in the north of England. For many years, the company was primarily known for its elegantly milled add-on parts and components made of aluminum, but now some carbon parts are also made on site.
The F20 flat pedals are no exception. The CNC milled aluminum pedal body rotates around a robust steel axle and has 12 screw pins on each side. These are screwed in from the respective back and are easy to remove even if they are damaged. Hope also attaches particular importance to durability - the F20 are therefore mounted in a complex manner: There are three industrial bearings and one plain bearing in a completely encapsulated area, which are thus protected from external influences.
The Hope F20 are available in the six Hope colors red, orange, blue, violet, black and silver. With 390g they are not lightweight, but they are still in the lower midfield of the weight scale, especially when you consider their robust construction.
