Cycling: Rigoberto Uran (Cannondale-Drapac) won the Milano-Torino one-day race. At the 98th edition, the Colombian shook off all his companions on the final climb and saved ten seconds before Adam Yates (Orica-Scott) crossed the finish line. Third was Fabio Aru (Astana) ahead of Nairo Quintana (Movistar).

Uranium is already thinking of the Lombardy tour
Although the Milano-Torino one-day race is still not part of the WorldTour, absolute top riders gather here year after year. This season, too, the start list was mouth-watering. With Rigoberto Uran, the organizers can at least be happy about the runner-up on the tour as the winner. But the Colombian had to fight hard for this success. Only shortly before the finish did the mountain specialist break away from his fellow combatants. After the four escapees of the day, Gregory Rast (Trek-Segafredo), Simone Andretta (Bardiani-CSF), Guillaume Bonnafond (Cofidis) and Patrick Lauk (Astana), were caught, Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors) broke away first. However, the Frenchman didn't stand a chance against the pace work from teams Astana, Movistar and Sky. After it was caught there were numerous attacks. Eventually, David Gaudu (FDJ) and that Uranian broke up. When he pulled the horn again, the French couldn't follow him either. Although Adam Yates rolled up the field from behind, he was no longer able to reach uranium. The winner was happy about his triumph, but also immediately looked ahead:
“I was a bit concerned that Yates would catch me because I suffered a lot and I wanted to do well today. I've been trying to win the Tour of Lombardy for a few years now. Hopefully I can do it this year.”
