Bicycle gear specialist Pinion presented new, thicker chainrings and a particularly wide chain at this year's trade fair - both are intended to ensure the durability of the Pinion drive even under particularly tough conditions.
Completely revised sprockets; three new sprocket sizes
The Swabian manual transmission manufacturer from Denkendorf (near Stuttgart) is optimizing its more exclusive P transmission line and the cheaper C models for 2018 in the details. The aim: to make the drive even more powerful and durable. The result of these detailed optimizations are the revised sprockets for the transmission and rear wheel. Thanks to their enormous strength, they should be particularly durable and, in combination with the chain, should also be characterized by very good sliding properties. In order to be able to adapt the transmission of the Pinion manual transmission even better to your own fitness, the area of application and the different wheel sizes, there are three new sprocket sizes with 2018, 22 or 24 teeth for 26. All sprockets of this second generation are compatible with all Pinion gears and chain tensioners. In cooperation with chain manufacturer KMC, Pinion has developed the X1 chain, which should harmonize perfectly with the new sprockets. It can be ridden on mountain bikes and trekking bikes with Pinion gears.

Pinion long-life sprockets and X101 long-life chain
The new long-life chainrings from Pinion are designed for the toughest conditions, such as those encountered by touring cyclists. Equipped with teeth that are one millimeter wider, they are designed for use with 1/2" x 1/8" chains with a maximum width of 8 mm. With the X101 Longlife, Pinion also offers the chain that goes with the long-life sprockets for the transmission and rear wheel. The long-life sprockets are available in a 30mm version for the transmission and in 26mm and 30mm versions for the rear wheel.

Colorful front and rear hubs
Its two hubs, the model H2F for the front wheel and the single-speed rear wheel hub H2R Pinion still offers for the rear wheel. Each equipped with a 6-hole disc brake mount, the self-made aluminum hubs are available in silver, black, red and blue. This color selection allows the rider to customize the look of the drive and bike. The 158 g light front wheel hub has two bearings and is available as a 100 x 9 mm quick-release version and a 100 x 15 mm thru-axle version. The H2R-Rear wheel hub is available in a classic 135 x 10 mm variant, as well as an X12 thru-axle version (142 x 12 mm) for more rigidity. Equipped with four bearings, the H2 weighsR 352g The thinkers from Denkendorf also offer the single-speed rear wheel hub in an extra-wide boost version (12 x 148 mm). Both rear wheel hubs work with a steel freewheel body, which not only impresses with its smooth running, but also with its longevity. For efficient power transmission, the rear wheel hubs are finely toothed and offer 120 engagement points.

Desiknio: Light urban runabout with C-gear and E-Motion rear motor
The young Spanish company Desiknio is enriching the e-bike market with a new e-urban runabout that, including the 6-speed manual transmission from Pinion (C series), E-Motion rear motor and Gates belt, is said to weigh 15,5 kilos. The basis of Desiknio's smart commuter bike is an aluminum frame made with smooth welding and complemented by a light carbon fork. The compact, light 250 Wh battery (charging time: approx. three hours) sits elegantly in the down tube and can remain in the bike for charging. The Desiknio should have a range of 40 to 60 km; Optionally, the battery power can be increased by mounting a second battery on the down tube (via bottle holder eyelets). The drive on the Desiknio is not activated and controlled via a display, but via the control panel elegantly embedded in the top tube.

Customizing and expected delivery date for the electric speedster with Pinion gearbox
If you want, you can also order the e-urban bike with a 9- or 12-speed manual transmission; In addition, the customer defines his desired frame color using the online configurator. On top of that, the color of the built-in Gates belt and that of the attachments can also be selected. The Spanish e-city car is expected to be available from January 2018; its base price is €4.390.
