Product news / Eurobike 2017: At the stand of the English company Hope at the Eurobike 2017, a display on the edge that seemed inconspicuous at first glance attracted a lot of curious looks. There were two exciting new prototypes to see here. The new Hope Tech6 V3 Ti 6-piston brake and the new Hope RX road crank.
Hope Tech3 V6 Ti: The return of the 6-piston brake?
You can never have enough braking power - right? That's probably what Hope thought too, and they're currently developing a new brake with a whopping six pistons per caliper. This will certainly bring back memories for some - it is not the first time that the English have gone in this direction and with the Mono 6 Ti they even had such a brake in their range a while ago.

The brake seen at Eurobike is currently still in early prototype status, as Robin Warne from Hope explains to us. Basically, you just combined the well-known Mono6 saddle with the current Tech3 encoder and are now experimenting with leverage ratios and other modifications. In the end, the series brake should even be combinable with 223mm discs and thus offer outstanding resistance to fading. Operation area? Gravity and E-MTB. Especially the latter need strong brakes due to the considerable additional weight.

When will the brake be on the market? As is so often the case with Hope, the answer is “when it's done” – that is, when you're really 100% satisfied with the performance. Given the early stage of development, 2018 is likely to be rather unlikely.

Hope RX: New cranks for road bikes and cyclocross
From one prototype to the next, even if it belongs to a completely different category. For the first time, a new crankset for racing bikes and cyclocross was presented at the trade fair. Two years ago, the English company presented their very first crank, which is primarily designed for use on MTB to Enduro. The new Hope RX will probably inherit some characteristics of the MTB role model, including the 30mm axle and Hope's typical, irresistible milling details.

With hollow forged crank arms, however, the weight can be reduced significantly. However, with reference to the ongoing development, they did not want to tell us where you will end up here in the end. Nevertheless: We are very excited and hope to get our hands on a production model as early as next year.
