cycling: Christoph Strasser: Attack on the 24-hour track record

September 6, 2017 by Andrew Waldera

Cycling: Extreme athlete Christoph Strasser can't stop himself! After his 24-hour world record on the road set in Berlin, the Austrian wants to set a new 24-hour track record in the middle of next month. The Slovenian Marko Baloh currently holds the indoor track record with 903 kilometers.

As part of the Specialized Days from October 13th to 15th in Grenchen (Switzerland), Christoph Strasser will be chasing Marko Baloh's indoor track record. In Montichiari, Italy, the Slovenian set a new track record of 2010 kilometers in 903 – a mark that is still unbeaten today. For Christoph Strasser, this means that he has to cover 250 laps within 24 hours on the 3.615-metre-long track in the Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen - that's around 24 seconds per lap. However, the chances for the feat are not bad: in March 2015, the man from Graz improved the 24-hour world record on the road in Berlin to 896,173 kilometers.

Specialized Days Grenchen: test event and party at the side of the track

The starting signal for the 24-hour world record attempt on the track will be given on Saturday, October 14 at exactly 13.00:1.00 p.m. From then on, extreme athletes have to grit their teeth. At 12:2018 a.m. there is a mountain festival with a party at the side of the track - a highlight for the fans of the extreme athlete, who still has XNUMX hours to go at this point. Visitors can not only look forward to the world record attempt, but also to the test event itself. Specialized has its brand new XNUMX bikes with them, which interested parties can test extensively. Admission is free on all three days.
