Cycling: Caleb Ewan (Orica-Scott) has won stage four of the Tour de Pologne. The Australian was driven perfectly into position by his team-mate Luka Mezgec in the bunch sprint. Danny Van Poppel (Sky) was second ahead of Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe), who remains in the yellow jersey.
Caleb Ewan completes perfect pre-work - Peter Sagan stays in yellow
The fourth stage of the Tour de Pologne was the longest part of this tour. From Zawiercie to Zabrze it was a whopping 238 kilometers to cover. Six breakaways from the peloton were able to break away early on and secured all intermediate rankings along the way. On the last kilometers of the stage, however, only one professional defended himself. Remi Cavagna (Quick Step-Floors) fought against the superiority of the sprinter teams. In the end, he too was caught five kilometers before the finish line. As expected, there was a mass sprint. There, Sky initially showed up for Danny Van Poppel, but then Luka Mezgec (Orica-Scott) took over for his captain Caleb Ewan. The little Aussie pulled through in his inimitable piked sprint stance and won ahead of Danny Van Poppel. Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) sprinted to third place. The world champion remains in the yellow jersey.
