Market: The Shimano Deore XT group has long been a guarantee of impeccable function and reliability at a reasonable price. Now the component giant from Japan is adding more crank and brake options. The products should further optimize the performance of the group, especially when used in the trail area, including on e-bikes.
Shorter Shimano Deore XT crank arms for e-mountain bikes
The Shimano Steps System cranksets in Hollowtech II design with their proven crank arms are available in 175 and 170 mm lengths. Now the Shimano Deore XT has been expanded to include shorter 165 mm Hollowtech II cranks. This also allows a low bottom bracket on e-mountain bikes. This type of bike is also pedaled on rough terrain and every additional centimeter of ground clearance is a positive thing. The shorter dimensions also reduce the risk of damage to the crank when it comes into contact with obstacles and should contribute to an optimized cadence. Of course, smaller riders in particular will be happy about the shorter crank arms.
Shimano Deore XT brake caliper with 4-piston technology
The new hydraulic Shimano Deore XT disc brake calipers fit seamlessly into the line-up of the Shimano Deore XT component group. They were developed to provide sufficient safety reserves at all times, even on the most demanding terrain and with an aggressive driving style. The new stoppers use Shimano's "Ice Technologies" heat management system, which is used in the design of the brake calipers, the compatible brake discs and the corresponding pads. As with the well-known Shimano XT two-piston brakes (M8000), the new system naturally also features the so-called "One-Way Bleeding" technology for efficient oil flow and simple, clean bleeding. Both the grip width and the idle travel can be adjusted. The new Shimano Deore XT brakes press the brake pads onto the brake disc with four instead of two ceramic brake pistons. This allows Shimano to significantly increase the deceleration performance compared to the already strong BR-M8000.
