Market: Mavic is fully established in the softgoods market. The French have proven that they can do more than wheels. When it comes to helmets and shoes, they are adding new shoes and helmets to the Mavic XA Pro line. Fortunately, there are also related models for women, they are called Echapee.
Mavic XA Pro helmet
The new Mavic XA PRO helmet model will be available from specialist retailers from September 2017. According to Mavic, it combines all the properties and technologies from Mavic that make the helmet safe and comfortable for trails and descents in demanding terrain. The top criteria for the developers of the new model were protection, ventilation and fit. The "Mavic Live Fit Technology", an integrated, wide and light insert made of breathable foam, should allow the helmet to noticeably adapt to the shape of the head. Optimum support and low vibration properties of the helmet are particularly important when cycling a lot. In addition, the "Ergo Hold SL" holding system with a rotary wheel on the back of the head provides support and the good feeling that the head is protected all around. The setting with the rotary wheel can be fixed quickly and precisely with one hand.
A special helmet pad takes care of moisture management on the head. Here the French fall back on tried and tested equipment. The upholstery with special technology contains active particles that attract body heat and wick away moisture. This should improve ventilation when driving uphill and regulate the climate under the hat as best as possible. In addition, the "Clima Flow Technology" with large cut-outs and intelligently arranged, but protected and stable openings for air circulation under the helmet.
The deep back of the head cover is considered outstanding in terms of safety. The inner shell of the InMold helmet stands for high absorption properties in the event of a direct impact: The system increases impact absorption and dispersion in the event of intensive falls and thus offers the greatest possible protection from all sides. Thanks to its advanced design and lightweight EPS construction, the helmet weighs just 280 grams, despite extensive equipment, making it an absolute lightweight in its category. The men's model comes in four colors. The women's model XA PRO with a corresponding fit for women will also be available in two colors from September. The helmets are said to cost 150 euros each.
Mavic XA Pro shoes
The Mavic XA PRO shoe aims to close a gap in the collection structure. Mavic sees it as a highlight for ambitious trail riders. The XA PRO mountain bike shoe should be available in specialist shops and online from September. The "Contagrip sole" is designed to guarantee optimal running properties when mountain biking and for carrying and running routes. At the same time, the cycling specialist from France promises a sole that works reliably on the pedal with the improved Energy Grip Trail Plus outsole. This makes the shoe suitable for endurance mountain bikers who don't want to do without traction in the terrain when carrying and running, nor do they want to do without supportive properties on the trail descent. The "Contagrip sole", whose rubber compound stands for grip and durability, comes with a new profile optimized for running routes in wet and dry terrain. According to Mavic, an inner plate made of carbon supports the stability of the XA PRO while driving and improves power transmission when pedaling. Nevertheless, equal importance was attached to roll-off behavior and flexibility of the sole.
The Mavic XA PRO is the first top shoe in the trail category to be equipped with the Ergo Dial System quick-release fastener, making it easy and reliable to fix and quickly open. The Ergo rotating system has been revised for 2018 to further improve holding power and precise adjustability. A high Velcro closure provides additional support and protection on the shaft. For use in muddy terrain and on trails, Mavic equips the shoe with low-abrasion and light anti-rip material. The upper material is said to be dirt-repellent and should be easy to clean. There are also comfort measures on the inside of the shoe: the XA PRO has an Ergo-Fit 3D+ Ortholite insole. A molded toe cap provides toe protection against impact.
The new Mavic XA PRO stands for versatile descent and ascent performance and reliability in the field. Thanks to its technical equipment, Mavic's top models in the trail segment. The model is available in three colors. It will cost 180 euros.
