Market: The Devinci Spartan Carbon 2018 has been consistently revised and presents itself with a new rear end, lighter frame and modern full-throttle geometry. It should shine equally as an enduro race bike and agile freeride mountain bike.
The Devinci Spartan Carbon still rolls on 27.5" wheels and offers 165 mm of rear spring travel. What is new, however, is the suspension travel on the fork, which has been increased to 170 mm. The well-known split-pivot rear triangle has also been redesigned from the ground up, which, by means of a concentric pivot point on the rear wheel axle, is intended to guarantee suspension that works as free as possible from drive and braking influences. The newly developed rear end of the Spartan Carbon is characterized by the upright Metric shock absorber, which creates space for a drinking bottle on the down tube. Devinci uses a Rock Shox Super Deluxe RC3 DB, which is connected to the rocker on the upper damper mount with a trunnion mount. The high-quality bearing of the trunnion mount should allow the rear triangle to act particularly sensitively on small bumps. Fans of classic steel struts will be happy that the 2018 Devinci Spartan Carbon can be used with these as an alternative. The carbon fiber chassis is said to have become significantly stiffer thanks to the new Split Pivot rear triangle and the extra-wide Boost axles (v./h.: 15 x 110/12 x 148 mm).

New for 2018: lighter carbon frame with modern geometry
The Devinci engineers have lightened the carbon monocoque frame, which is available in four sizes (S/M/L/XL) by 310 g: The new carbon chainstay saves 160 g, the main frame is 150 g lighter. At 3,24 kg (size M, including shock absorber), the new carbon frame is not a proven lightweight, but it should withstand heavy loads over the long term. Following the trend towards wide rims and wide, aggressively profiled tires, the Devinci Spartan Carbon offers space for tires with a maximum width of 2.6".
The geometry is drawn in a modern way. The steering angle in the flat "Lo" geometry setting is 65°, the wheelbase is a generous 1.224 mm and the reach is 465 mm. At 337 mm, the bottom bracket sits low, which should favor great handling. The seat tube angle is steep at 74,5°, which should ensure healthy pressure on the pedals going uphill. All in all, the geometry clearly illustrates who the new Devinci Spartan Carbon was developed for: Devinci EWS racers Théo Galy and Damien Oton, as well as everyone else who likes to be in a hurry. At the same time, the Spartan should also be suitable for freeriding in rough terrain. If you want, you can change the geometry with a flip chip on the rocker, making the steering and seat angle steeper by 0,4°.

Integration of current standards
The frame details on the new Spartan Carbon and the Spartan aluminum version are also modern. The beautiful internal cable routing is designed for the use of Shimano's Di2 gears, the down tube and rear stays are protected by carbon protectors in rough terrain. The Di2 battery takes place under the down tube protection. A bottle holder can also be mounted on the down tube. Top for tall riders and difficult terrain: If desired, the biker can retrofit a dropper post with a maximum adjustment range of 170 mm on the M, L and XL frames. Devinci uses a RockShox Reverb with an adjustment range of 125 mm for frame sizes S and M, and the 150 mm version for sizes L and XL.

Devinci Spartan Carbon: four carbon and two aluminum models for 2018
Four model variants of the Spartan Carbon roll onto demanding trails in 2018. The two top models are available with either the electronic 1 x 11 Shimano XT Di2 group or the no less classy 12-speed X01 Eagle drivetrain from Sram. For the exclusive price of €9.799 each, the X01 and XT-Di2 setups feature the Reverb dropper post from Rock Shox, lightweight Race Face carbon wheels (Next R) and a classy Race Face cockpit with Next carbon handlebars . The carbon entry-level model Devinci Spartan Carbon NX for € 4.999 is also not necessarily in the bargain league. The Canadians have installed the 1 x 11 Sram NX group, the cheaper RockShox Yari RC enduro fork (170 mm travel), an Aeffect crank from Race Face and an FSA dropper post.

Nice: Devinci stays true to aluminum and offers two more attractively priced bikes in the form of the Spartan NX (€3.699, 1 x 11 drive: Sram NX) and the Spartan GX Eagle (€4.599, 1 x 12 drive: Sram GX Eagle). aluminum variants. All six model variants of the Devinci Spartan have in common high-traction Maxxis tires (v./h.: Minion DHF 27.5" x 2.5"/Minion DHR II 27.5" x 2.4") and a Rock-Shox air suspension, whereby the high-quality Rock-Shox -Super Deluxe RC3 DB shock absorber is commendably used on all models.

Frame also available separately
The frame-only option of the Devinci Spartan Carbon is recommended for fans of individual setups: for €3.499 you can purchase the frame including a RockShox shock absorber (Super Deluxe RC3 DB) in black or bright purple. The Spartan aluminum frame is significantly cheaper at €2.199 and works with the RockShox Super Deluxe R DB shock absorber.
