cycling: Exchange exchange: Sky upgrades, Coquard to Vital Concept

August 17, 2017 by Michael Behringer

Cycling: The transfer carousel turns faster and faster. Now Team Sky has also announced well-known newcomers. Spaniards Jonathan Castroviejo and David de la Cruz have signed. Meanwhile, top sprinter decided Bryan coquard for the Équipe Vital Concept by Jérôme Pineau.

Sky reacts to Mikel Landa's departure

A few days ago we heard: Mikel Landa joins Movistar! A severe weakening for the strong team Sky. Now the British team has reacted and signed two new drivers for the coming season. Jonathan Castroviejo is going the opposite way, leaving Team Movistar for Nairo Quintana. The Spaniard will strengthen Team Sky in the future, just like his compatriot David de la Cruz. This comes from Quick-Step Floors and will be starting at the Vuelta a Espana from Saturday, where he finished seventh last year.

Former professional Jérôme Pineau forms the new Team Vital Concept

The new ProContinental Team Vital Concept is also slowly taking shape. The French top sprinter Bryan Coquard has now been signed as captain. Rather involuntarily, he gave up the Tour de France this year because he fell out of favor with his team, Direct Energie. In addition to Coquard, numerous other drivers have already been signed. The FDJ pros Lorrenzo Manzin, Johan Le Bon, Kevin Reza and Marc Fournier, as well as Jonas Van Genechten and Yoann Bagot from Cofidis will be cycling for Vital Concept next year. Also driving in 2018 are Bert De Backer (Sunweb), Quentin Pacher (Delko Marseille), Julien Morice (Direct Energie), Kris Boeckmans (Lotto Soudal), Steven Lammertink (LottoNL-Jumbo), Jeremy Lecroq (Roubaix Lille Metropole), Justin Mottier ( Elite 2) and Corentin Ermenault (Team Wiggins) for the new squad. In the coming days, another five drivers will be presented.
