General: DH MTB Worldcup #4: Myriam Nicole and Troy Brosnan win on the steep course in Vallnord/Andorra

July 3, 2017 by Andrew Waldera

MTB cycling: In addition to the XCO riders, the downhill specialists were also challenged at the MTB World Cup in Vallnord/Andorra. Myriam Nicole from France and Troy Brosnan from Australia won the fourth race of the season – the first win of the year for both riders.

On the steep downhill slope in Vallnord/Andorra it was much tighter than in the cross-country races. The Australian Troy Brosnan proved how close he was, only 0,22 seconds ahead of the top spot on the podium. The fastest in qualifying was able to call up his good performance on the day of the race. Second place went to South African Greg Minnaar ahead of Brit Danny Hart (+2,40 seconds).

Myriam Nicole won the women's race. The French raced unleashed, relegating Tahnee Seagrave to second by almost three seconds. Marine Caribou (+8,04 seconds) completed the podium. The fastest woman in qualifying, Tracey Hannah from Australia, fell in the final run and was only ninth - she still holds the overall lead with a lead of just five points over Myriam Nicole.

The German riders played no role in the races of the elite riders. Johannes Fischbach, still busy with his injury, ended up in 35th place, Sandra Rübesam didn't make it from qualifying to the final. From a German point of view, Junior Max Hartenstern had reason to be happy with his fifth place. The best World Cup result so far for the young rider from Geringswalde.
