Test: The Canadian components and clothing specialists from Race Face took their time with the first dropper post. However, the Turbine Dropper Post has been available since last season - behind the typical high-quality appearance of Race Face is innovative technology that comes from a small, also Canadian, competitor.

Race Face Turbine Dropper: assembly
The (initial) assembly is not necessarily one of the great strengths of the Race Face Turbine Dropper: This is due to the somewhat peculiar control of the internal cartridge, for which the cable is locked in a small plastic part in a first step, which in turn is then attached to the bolted to the underside of the support. While this isn't overly complicated, it certainly takes a few minutes longer than most of the competition. The big advantage, however, is that the support can then be (dis)assembled very quickly and easily, since only the "control unit" has to be detached from the support.
Race Face Turbine Dropper: processing
A high price, as with the Race Face support, always fuels high expectations of the workmanship. However, the Canadians can easily meet these requirements: You have to look for plastic with a magnifying glass, all parts are of high quality and feel classy. Small details such as the laser engravings on the standpipe round off the extremely high-quality overall picture.
Race Face Turbine Dropper: Function
Inside the Race Face Turbine dropper post is the same technology that we already know from the 9point8 Fall Line post: Race Face licensed the innovative cartridge from the small Canadian company and uses it in a different guise on its own posts. This decision by Race Face is quite understandable, because the cartridge offers advantages with its mechanical locking, the low manual forces required and the large stroke that cannot be denied. On the other hand, you also buy some of the (small) disadvantages, including the somewhat complicated assembly and the very fast extension speed.
The remote that came with our test strut is one of the better ones, is very well made and the slight ribbing is pleasant, especially when it's wet. All those who are traveling with only one chainring should be happy about the option of a one-by lever, which is also available in different anodized colors.
