Product news: RockShox Reverb 1x Remote: New control lever 'Trigger-Style'

April 5, 2017 by the editorial office

Market: Dropper posts have revolutionized mountain bikes and MTB sports since their introduction. They are still laughed at by many as a nice gimmick; However, anyone who has ever been out and about with this "gimmick" in the field will not want to be without it again. The RockShox Reverb is one of the longest-serving representatives of this guild and still enjoys great popularity. The reason for criticism of the RockShox dropper post, however, was the operating lever in the course of the emerging 1-speed trend in MTBs: This was previously always intended as an addition to the two existing shift levers - but since the trigger for the front derailleur is now missing on many MTBs, they are ergonomic much better solutions possible.

With the new RockShox Reverb 1x Remote, they are now introducing a new control unit for the Reverb, which is optically and ergonomically based on a shifter and can be mounted instead of a front derailleur trigger - so this solution only makes sense for bikes with one chainring. Last but not least, the successful DeHy retrofit solution from BikeYoke, which we looked at some time ago, shows that there is a need for such a remote have looked more closely.

As with the conventional control lever, the extension speed of the seat post can also be regulated on the new RockShox Reverb 1x Remote - this setting is no longer tool-free, but since you probably only adjust it once to personal preferences, it shouldn't be too much of a problem . The hydraulic line is vented via a bleeding edge connection.

The new control lever is only compatible with RockShoxk reverbs of the B1 and A2 series - these can be recognized by the black adjuster for the extension speed. In addition, the Reverb will now also be available ex works with the 1x lever as an option - so we should see a lot of complete bikes with the new ergonomic Reverb Trigger by next season at the latest.

However, if you want to upgrade, you have to dig deep into your pocket: The lever (including the bleeding edge connection, matchmaker clamp and normal clamp) is available in stores at an RRP of €105. It will be available in the next few days.
